I'm sure alot of people know that when its gets dark (or at any time) you can press ctrl+L and you get a personal light that emits from your body. This light is client side only so other players cant see it.
When I was running around Dathomir last night, it was very dark, practically the entire time I was there.I turned on my personal light, and while it was good, I thought to myself that since Im a ranger, with my senses keenly honed to my enviroment that perhaps I could see things better, have better eyesight when things got dark (Perhaps I have an all carrot diet).
What I came up with was just increasing this light radius for rangers, in one of the branches (obviously not trapping), that at each level, those +5 bonuses would add up and by Master Ranger I could see great so well that I barely noticed that I was night time (of course up to a maximum range, and youd have to make it still dark, Im just throwing in a hyperbole there).
Of course the light radius still remains client side, it gives not advantage in combat, but it makes things slightly easier when you are running around a dark jungle and trying not to stumble in to a fallen log.
Thoughts?

I like it!
Useful, simple, not overpowering, and seemingly easy to implement.
What i think may be cooler though instead of it being a light, maybe make it a nightvision type ability. Or a ranger cert. for a nightvision device! it is the future afterall, they must have these thing no?
That little addition added, i think a bonus to our Crtl+L would bea really nice perk

Yeah that would be a nice vission, as would night vission goggles
The screen would go green/grey and you could see as clear as day yet creatures and people would show up as 'preditor vission' heat signatures
But yeah an extra light source would help abit seen as though on some dark surfaces the light does not illuminate them much.

That would be nice....at one point, I had the silly idea that Leezards, with thier IR vision (I thought they were supposed to have IR vision), should not ever have a light value below the max (i.e. it is light no matter time of day, of strucutre you are in).

Im not sure there is a need to see creatures as heat signitures when I can just tab and target them.
I do however like the idea of a increase in the light radius, and a ranger only light intensification goggles.

Increased light for Rangers is a great idea! Though in reference to the other poster, it's not in the future, remember that bit at the beginning of IV and everytime the game loads? The part about being a long long time ago?

I am not going to speak for other people, but one of the primary reasons I switched from rifles to TK is due to the fact that i wanted to not have to rely on technology.
hence i don't really care for the nightvision.... BUT I LOVE THE IDEA THAT MY NIGHT VISION WOULD NATURALLY GO UP!!!!!

Dathomir was designed to be dark, scary, forboding. While a good idea its just opposite of what they want you to experience while there, aka hate it
However, Dantooine is a different argument. Nights are just way to long there, the weather sucks most of the time, and I am always blind.
/kicks self- I really have to get in the habit of using tab. Almost never do.
