Thread: Is Rare Foraging Bugged?

Okay... I have went the path of the ranger and as many of you are... I am dissappointed as well. I figured in the very least that rare item foraging would be worthy of this destitute skill tree... Hmmmm.... all I want to know is:

HAS ANYONE FOUND A SINGLE RARE ITEM? This seems to be bugged. Every now and again it says something is too big to fit into inventory... What did I forage, a freaking dinosaur? And why doesnt it say what it was or give you any options to discard? If someone has news or information to the contrary please advise.

Thanks,

Chaii

To the best of our knowledge, rare item foraging is broken. I currently have foraging on the list of issues to report.

Yeah I have foraged at least 400-500 times already with no rare items. Maybe its even rarer than this.

BTW Congrats on becoming Ranger Coorespondent Mineras.

Speaking of Foraging I would like to see a successful forage count as some nominal xp towards survival exp. It kinda makes sense to have it count in this line and it would help break up the monotony of camps.

How can you be certain it isn't even working if you can't clearly define what is a "rare" item to begin with? For all you know, you've been foraging "rare" items all the time and you just thought they were common... if anything, I think its broken in reverse... I think all foraging is giving you rare items instead of generic "melons or water"... that is why it seems broken.... when actually its working too well...

I'd hardly agree. Our foraged foods are about equivalent of a newbie chef's buffs if that. Additional disagreement would stem from the fact that Scouts do not get the ability to forage rare items, and I am foraging the exact same things as I was when I was a Scout.

I'm not a ranger yet. I'mat explore 4, hunting 4, Trap 3 amd Survival 3. I get the same inventory full bug. Am I finding rares? I'm not a ranger and I shouldn't be right? Well I just wanted to let you know it is nota ranger only issue.

On the contrary, I am certain rare foraging is not working... Why you ask? Here it goes:

When you are out foraging, every once in a blue moon even with a fairly empty inventory, you will get a message that states "Your inventory is too full, some of your foraged items have been discarded". To empiricaly test my theory, I went out butt naked and foraged, discarding all items I received untill I finally got the message again... This is why I insert the sarcastic remark about foraging a dinosaur since that and an at-at would be the only things too large to fit in my inventory.

Bottom line: There is a bug... If it isnt just rare items that are bugged and the "chance of finding a rare item" is a friggin onion that adds a few hundred points... I will be very upset that after spending countless hours in camps to get 80,000 survival XP the best this profession can give me is onions and fruit that any regular old master scout can find or even mid level scout can find.

In closing: In memory of socrates and the socratic method... I ask you "What ARE the benefits of the ranger profession and is it anywhere remotely close to any other advanced profession?"

Not being wise, just trying to assist making the profession I chose a fair one and not a wasted one.

Thanks!

I actually do sell my food I forage in teh bazaat...sell them for 30credit a piece (to pay for bazaar posting costs). People eat them up (no pun intended). I am restocking the auctions every night. MIght start charging more, but people are buying.

But, I would be happy with a few xp for each successful forage.

Just noticed that both Mineras and Yaztro are rangers on Eclipse. I am hoping to be an Eclipse ranger by this weekend and was wondering if either of the two can a a fellow ranger with some training once I get there.

Again sorry for the temporary hijack.

I am usually right outside of Mos Entha. If you head straight out of town from Lucky Despot, I am usually camped there (at least for the last several nights I have been). Soon as you hit all the harvesters, I am in there.

Getting tons of people healing and getting training, so dont hesitate to stop by. If not there, /tell me and I will see what I can do.
