Ok, I know most people prefer vehicles to mounts since bikes are so much faster, but is there maybe a way to make mounts more attractive?
Now,I know this is a "futuristic" setting and vehicles are just as "Rangery" as creature mounts, but perhaps we could do something to make mounts work for Rangers... like allowing Rangers and Scouts to /maskscent and /harvest, and allowingRangers to /camouflage and/areatrack while mounted?
This is not as usefull as, say, allowing Rangers to use specials while mounted, but it may just be usefull enough to get mounts some more usage.
Also, perhaps we could get a duration increase on /gallop determined by our Terrain Negotiation or Burstrun Effeciancy mods?
Just some things I was pondering whilesitting in myField Base, enjoying themountainview on Naboo.

Hi all
I think that u got some good ideas there, and heres my humbletake on it.
1.Mask scent should be appliable while mounted...why not..?
2.I dont really see how harvesting can be done from the back of an animal.(use a droid if nesessary)
3.Camo:the same as above(except the droid)
4.The areatrack bit is very interesting.U could perhapes get: + 50m(on flying creatures),-50m on the grounded ones..?
Lets keep the grayones occupied
...track me if u can...

I'd like to address your concerns here:
1.)
2.) a. Everyone can already loot corpses from mount/vehicle andb. I can only have one pet out at a time, droid or creature (Is there some way to have a droid and mount out at the same time that I'm missing?). I can suspend disbelief enough so that harvesting from mountback is not gonna bother me if it will help make mounts more usefull.
3.) I don't understand. We can't use camo to conceal our pet as well? If maskscent could work, why not camouflage? How are we masking our big smelly dewbacks scent then?
4.)
. I could live without complicating the equation, but still..

Cat body types can keep up with the X-34. A mountable cat would give us a mount as fast as the slowest speeder.

are you kidding, this would be the best thing ever. I do all of my resource hunting on mount (not the fighting, the traveling) unless im going far distances. plus it feel more ranger to do so.
The ability to use specials would create an unbalance in pvp with kiting, if you were to say "then everyoneshould just ride mounts to pvp", that would just look silly heh. but inpve I think it's welcome because most creatures are pretty fast.
I think there def needs to be a speed increase for mounts, and make some cat type mounts too. but most of all, having to dismount to mask, camo, or AT is one of the msot annoying things ever, especially if you happen to be a Master Warper like myself (but that's gonna be fixed in a few days with the new mini-patch).

Some coments:
2. Agree
4. Elevation should make it easier to se stuff on the ground, and notimprove visibilityofavians...logicaly that is, you dont go down from a tower to spot people in a corn field??You use higher ground to remove the obstacles to your field of view
1&3 RL info. They use elephants as mounts to keep track on tigres in reserves in Asia. Why? because tigres dont see elephants as either food or threat. They don't realy care about the human on top or don't realy understand that it is a separate entity (ref. also big vehicles on safaries in Africa where the animals respond only to the vehicles, unless you stick your head/arm out and wave it in front of the lion.....).
So maybe the animals around you should only respond to the mount as they would per. the normal logic in the game as oposed to the rider?
Negative: camo might beless usefullto peoplewith mounts.......
........a tigre? in AFRICA????..........

Hi all.
With all due respect Jasse.
4.I agree that elevation should make u see"stuff on the ground"easier, but im not talking about that.I`m talking about tracking!U ever seenative climb up in a tree,to spot the tracks on the ground,do u?And for the logicpart of not seeing avians better...An example for u:Who do u thinkis seeingbetter(distance/hight): A1 feet tall man,or a 7 feettall one...(the difference is there)
...You use higher ground to remove the obstacelsto your field ofview...Doh
As for the real info,u should check ur sources.Tigers dont see elephants as a threat or food. That dont make sence. If they didnt see them as a threat, they wouldfor suresee them as food.(read...a ton of fleash and fat)
It`sa good idea that while mounted, thewild aminals"see"u as part of the animal itself.Perhapes as a mask scent in itself,+with the ms applied we would be relative safe.
Allthough I think ms should be app.from a mount,I think it would be difficult(from a rw point of wiew),to get dressed in camowhile riding a mount.U have to bee quite the balanceartist.
And yes,u can have a droid, and a mount out at the same time, and if u have chosen sides,u can have a reb/imp helper out too.
...track me if u can...

Yeah, about having a mount and droid out at the same time... no-can-do.
I've tried it and tried it and tried it some more and all I get is something like, "You have no chance to control a pet of that type" even though I can pull them each individually.
Just in case anyone asks, I am using a 117 harvest rating R3 droid and a lesser plains bol mount. No, I am not a Creature Handler.
Also, I did not mean to suggest that we be able to literally maskscent and camouflage our mounts, just that when we mask and camo ourselves it should include our beast as well, as it does. I only used that as a counter to your arguement that we should not be allowed to activatethose abilitieswhile mounted.
Besides, mounts are animals and likely some other animal's food, so masking and camoing them would't be a horrible idea. Also, poachers and evil hermits don't care that they're just animals, only that we at the reigns.
And as for the rest, I think you need to learn to suspend a little bit of disbelief.
I think most of us are in agreement that Rangers need some love and many people would like to see mounts become more usefull. These ideas are not totally inconsistant with the way many things are already implemented in the game for the sake of practicality.
That is to say, what I suggested is not very immersion breaking when spontaniously appearing feild bases (Shouldn't it take much longer to erect those small cities?!) andtracking by name (Is everyones name printed on the bottom of their boots?!) are taken into account.

I use a mount while hunting...
- Zipping by faster then the server can handle tends to make you miss some targets of opportunity.
- For me, I have a CH level skill of 19 which gets me mounts that have tanking ability. A BE can custom make you some very nice ones.
- I have a macro: /dismount; /areatrack; /pause 5;/mount (Achilles). When I'm riding Achilles I can target other things and do a fast scan too. If I'm on a bike, I target the bike and it still works.
