Hey guys, with the Correspondent Summit on the Combat Balance approaching (someday), I would like to get a list of questions you would like me to TRY to ask the devs. I can not guarantee that I will get to ask all or even any of your questions, but I want to be prepared ifI can get a dev cornered. This is not a what do we want thread...there is another thread for that. An example of what I am looking for is:
What is the perceived direction the Ranger prof will go in the future (i.e. will we have an offensive role in PvP)?
An improper question would be:
WIll the Rangers ever get creature defense mods (I want to reserve these kinds of questionsfor the suggestions thread, as I am certain I can present the items in that thread to the devs...)?
Please let me know ifI need to clarify, and please keep this on topic
.
EDIT: Just wanted to make sure that everyone knows this thread was my idea and was NOT solicited by and devs....

Calc I think this is acceptable, here's mine:
Will we ever get confirmation on some or our "questionable" abilities? Ex:
-does our to hit bonus apply to melee and ranged attacks or not?
-Is our camo supposed to work against NPC's?
the 2 bullets were just examples for clarification Calc, I just want the main question answered so we can have our some of our theories confirmed or disproved.

Great questions guys...I guess I don't need to clarify as you seem to have hit the nails on the head.

From starkmd on another thread:
Calc,
Here's a good question for the Summit:
<semi rant>
"How many developers will be dedicated to SWG (planet-based) new development. How many dedicated to Patching SWG (planet-based)?
How many Developers will be dedicated to space expansion?
How many Developers will be dedicated to quests?
I pay $15 a month... why isn't there 1 developer dedicated per profession?
...why not per quest?
...why not per planet?
...why, why, why?
What makes me believe that developers will not continue working on expansion after initial release due to inevitable bugs?"
<rant>
How's that help me? Maybe I (for one) will not purchase space expansion.... My $15 per month is being spent on something that has no bearing on me. Don't they realize this is rediculously poor business decision?
</rant></semi rant>
sorry... how un-Ranger-like of me...... but it's still a good question.

How about:
Background:
A long time ago Holocron detailed how severly 'un-unique' ranger's wereand proposed some potential changes to solve this very important issue.Since that time our changeswere put on hold due to other major developments such as players cities and vehicles. However since these features have been implemented we have not had our changes put back into development. We remain an un-unique class, a semi-completed class that is still waiting for the changes that should have come so long ago.
Our changes have been put off for so long and now it seems we have been 'skipped' past and cast to the back of the que,
Question:
what can be done to rectify this problem?

These:
- Could the ranger changes be added back intothe short termdevelopment schedule as they were aparently forgotten about?
- We pay $15 every month to get passed over and have changes pushed back, how can youfix this?
- We pay a monthly fee for development and fixes yet we as rangers are not seeing changes discussed so long ago, how can you fix this?
- Uniqueness as detailed by Holocron is a very important issue to the developers, how do you plan to fix this issue with rangers in regards to master scout benefits?

"What do the the devs percieve the value of Rangers in the GCW revamp is?"
"When you created the ranger profession during the early betas. What did you think their role would be?"
"With the removal of trapping in the Scouting line from the BH requirements. WIll Rangers get player traps? This once being the province of only BH's since it was their requirements"
"There was some discussion about ranger setable traps that woudl stay permanent like mines. What has happened to this plan?"

Here is one that I'm really curious about, I might add others as they occur to me:
"How exactly does the natural spawn system currently work? What are its shortcomings from game design/developer/server management viewpoint? How do you want to fix it and when?"
Short background:
As you know, the lair spawns have a direct impact on how useful /areatrack is, and the current implementation seems to attempt to optimize the lair spawn distribution/frequency based on the server load. This has the unfortunate side effect of making /areatrack less useful than it could be and detracts greatly from the PvE side of the whole game for all professions.

Whats our role in JTL? One description of Ranger that has been provided mentions our ability as pilots -- will we get any special love in this area?
Will they let Masters creature harvest unique items not available to other players?
What the heck is forage for? It would seem to be like a loot drop so why havent they added to it? IMO its the biggest waste of code in the entire game. They wouldn't do anything without purpose so whats the future hold here?
Why is their vision limited to hunter? Why cant those skills allow us assasin like abilities so that the Ranger Rifleman is the true sniper and the Ranger TKM is the silent assasin ( see I didnt say ninja cause I dont want that kind of grief) It would make us more viable in this GCW they want us to participate in so badly.
And finally, the devs shouldnt tell us what they think is cool, they should tell us what is viable and likely to happen. Too often they share hopes that are eventually left behind or abandoned in lieu of something else. Where do they legitimately see this professions role and skills 6 - 9 months from now?

and one other thing -- I'd also like to vote for there response to thespawn system and limited number of server objects allowed. Seems all of our growing cities are having the same effect in game as in RL, but if mobs need to be placed on the endangered species list becasue of urban sprawl, then the game will be the next item to become extinct when we cant get enough avain meat to keep people in business.A MMORPG may be an interesting place for socialogical experiment but not for ecological impact studies.
