Well folks, we finally have a PA name worthy of SWG Rangers!

I present to you the - Antarian Rangers (AR)

Why the Antarian Rangers? As you know we've been going back and forth with names for the past week. Our main selections were CORE, IRC, ICOR. However, just recently a member of the forum (thanks Felton) reminded us of the Antarian Rangers from the actual Star Wars Universe:

"A para-military group based on several planets, including Toprawa, they were formed to assist and aid the Jedi Knights. They were trained to be masters of any environment, in order to help the Jedi in any way possible. During the Clone Wars, whole groups of Antarian Rangers were killed off, and many of the survivors scattered and went underground."

When presented with this information, opinions quickly swayed to this name due to the relation to SW as well as the respect those Rangers obviously had. Once the vote began it became clear where we were headed - we were resurrecting the Antarian Rangers!!!

Anyone familiar with the Star Wars Extended Universe will remember and respect the Antarian Rangers, and if not, they will soon become aware of our presence!!!

Now let's hope the acronym isn't already taken, heh heh!!

WOW!!! I didn't know this and even my friend who has read a huge number of the books didn't even know this (so I don't feel so bad for being so ignorant).

Just this little bit of backstory helps go a long way to explain why we currenlty seem to be scoutX2 with a rescue ability and a cool camp and where we should be heading in the future. Someone please expand on this a bit more and let's get it stickied to the top of this forum.

Ooh, master of "any environment" gives me the impression that you may have been right about our place in space also, Zkull.

The fact that we are "assisting Jedi in any way possible" goes a long way to explaining our resuce ability and the possibly appearance of unfairness in PvP (Besides the fact that I believe the novice brawler taunt is supposed to do the same thing - NOVICE low-level skill, just since it's not called rescue many haven't figured out all of the implications - or have they? anyone read the brawler forums? If I'm wrong, excuse me this is what my TKA friend is telling me his brawler skill is supposed to do)

Now, too bad it looks like you can't be a member of 2 different PAs at once and just switch tags at will or have both showing.

Wow!! I read that background information and it is pretty impressive!! Perhaps it was fate that we couldn't decide on a name right away.

Yes, I too think that Antarian Rangers is an excellent name for a Ranger-specific PA. I remember reading about them in the X-Wing series (Wraith Squadron, I believe), but had forgotten all about them until the meeting yesterday. I had a blast at the meeting last night (and participating in the post-meeting hunting too), and it was nice to meet so many nice, considerate, and generally likable people at once. I'm looking forward to the next meeting and to seeing you all again. Also, I'd like to thank Zkull for getting this whole thing started and giving me the opportunity to meet everyone at the meeting last night.
