Thread: What is cool about being a Ranger...
- Umm, well, we can crawl fast.
- And umm, well, at Master we can harvest twice as much as a Novice Scout (and 30% more than a Master Scout).
- And umm, well, we can make pretty camps.
- And umm, well, we can make camo that usually acts a bit buggy but can occasionally protect against NPCs as well as creatures and can be applied to other players.
- And umm, well, we can track stuff that has already spawned and is probably already in the process of being killed by another player.
- And umm, well, we can throw traps at rancors that are less effective than using a weapon special, take longer to do, cost resources, freeze you in place, etc.
- And umm, well, we can use rescue to pull enemies off our friends and onto us so that we can die faster.
- And umm, well, we can make pretty links to other threads.
Seriously, though, it's more of a playstyle than a profession. The skills themselves are not all that useful (especially for the skill point cost) but the idea of those skills is enough to attract some cool people. And the people that stick around are often some of the nicest in the game. About the only skill that some people consider worth the skill points is tracking, and that is usually for the Jedi quests or the Hero quests. But the little things can be nice to have (like crawling fast).

As you can see I've been in this game since launch and always in the back of my mind wanted to try Ranger. But, other than on this forum I hear nothing but bad things about it. So whats so cool about Ranger? I've never had a FotM template and never will so I just want to know what about Ranger is fun.
Thanks.
1: We truly p0wn at crawling. Rangers win crawl races hand down.
2: We like sitting in the middle of no where, in cool looking tents.
3: Kreetles are our number 1 enemy. Rancors... no problem, but Kreetles... oh they're evil.
4: We make stands against hotpants. Apart from the tailor correspondent spends more time in here than he does in his own forum. ![]()
5: We harvest well.
6: Tracking - while really buggy, can be really neat sometimes.
7: Doctors and Chefs worship us.
8: We're actually the cornerstone of the economy. Without rangers *everything* would collapse.
I miss anything guys?
#EDIT# I did actually... the cries of "Exploiter!!!1!1!one!1!" when you chase a force running three jedi up a hill and stomp on him. Never ever ever will it fail to make me laugh. I knew that first tree was good for something.

2) The ability to walk in the entire squill cave in nothing but hotpants unbuffed with a simple /conceal
3) Tracking can make you a lot of money. Also helps as a early warning device in PvP if you know who's in what faction on your server
4) Newbies and chicks dig the tents
5) Able to keep up with a force-running2 Jedi on hilly terrain with burstrun. No, I'm not kidding, I've done it.
6) Unique. We are one of the rarest professions out there. Heck, Jedi outnumber us almost 2 to 1.
7) Tight community. Read through the Ranger forums and you'll find we are a pretty good bunch. And almost everytime you see another Ranger (especially Master), you'll get at least a /nod ingame. Tight knit bunch we are.
