Id very much listen to the bad points and calls of ranger isnt a profession its a lifestyle because they speak to truth. The best most fun part about being a ranger is the community here, hands down the best imo.

Honestly, it's what you make of it.
If you like hunting different creatures, other than the uber loot droppers, it's a good choice because of the harvesting mods and the ability to track. That's 0040, but other than that, it's all personal preference. Personally, I like killing everything from Torturs to Rancors. Harvesting what's in shift gives me a chance to switch every week or so, rather than camp nightsisters or whatever.
As for money? Sure, I can make a couple of million selling a resource.. but those buyers SPEND a couple of million buying your stuff, so they can turn around and do a factory run to create items that sell for much more profit. Rangers can make money, but we can never compete with Docs and Armorsmiths.
As for not needing buffs? Nothing about ranger gives us an inate ability to go without buffs or armor. Nothing. I think it's popular among most rangers to go without buffs, simply because you don't need them when harvesting durnis or banthas. Let's be honest.
Also, it's usually a hassle to find a buff every time you want to go hunt/harvest, and nearly every creature can be soloed by using proper tactics, unbuffed.
If you're trying to fight Rancors while unbuffed, however, you're just doing it for the challenge aspect... I can take down a juvenille krayt by standing off at 64meters and doing /concealshot while unbuffed and using stimB's to heal every 15 shots. Not too exciting..
I have nothing against buffs, since I like to kill fast and harvest quickly while minimizing my time in the cloning center. :-)
Anyone can hunt without buffs, and most can do it better than Rangers since we sacrifice so many skill points, leaving us with barely enough for novice medic and a master combat profession.

Well I am now proud to say I'm on my way to becoming a part of this great community. I should have Novice in a few days and then I will enjoy a nice long but relaxed non-grind to Master.
Good to have you. Enjoy it.

Also, here's another gread Ranger thing.
The Great Ranger Meets.
How many other professions get together on one server one day for just a big hunting shindig? I don't think any others do.

Hmm.. What's cool...
Well, apart from the posts above, it's fun if you are the only Ranger in your guild / hunting groupand everybody tells you to lead the way to the next pile ofhides.
And if some group members die, they will see your big tent from far away and will find you very fast - al last if you put it on top of a hill.
But what I like most about it: It's a samll and friendly group. Today, it's harder to spot a Master Ranger than a Jedi

TBH, I reckon they had the help of a ranger, maybe a corry... Either that or they just followed the trail of M&M's we left out the other day.

I was going to say 'apart from the hunting' what about the ents Cantina Crawl??
And then I remembered the Hawtpant Squad and realised it's just a different kind of hunt.

My fav part of being a ranger is sprinting up a hill on dath while others are crawling and the ability to track CSR's is just plain fun. I love sending them tells "hi how you doing? Having a good day?" LOL

Glad to have a new Ranger--
my two cents is this:
The best part about being a Ranger is the people you get to meat (haha, it's a pun!).
We have had two of the best correspondants ever to grace the boards (NRass and Calculus- who, sadly, is departing).
We have a community of some of the best idea-generators in the game
Rangers are almost TOO polite and positive
There are very few "flames" and almost no random complaining.
There is a lack ofpetitions-- which helps generate IDEAS and FEEDBACK
The community has a lot of fun together
We love having fun
Being a Ranger is more important than faction or anything else
You can be a "Ranger" without actually having Ranger in your template. It's just something you LIVE.

I disagree with the person who said that nothing gives rangers the ability to go unbuffed and that hunting rancors unbuffed is done purely for the challenge. I'm a master rifleman, and that profession, when combined wiht ranger allows me to beat almost any creature in the game not just unbuffed, but also unarmored. Rancors? The drop like flies before they even realize where the fire is coming from. I don't wear armor or use buffs becasue I can usually kill things before I'm even noticed. Why wear armor when I never get hit?
