I pulled this off the 19 Answers on the 'In Live' forum. You can comment here or there .

TH Said:

Ranger

In August of 2003, Holocron posted in the Ranger forum regarding the lack of uniqness to the Ranger profession. The post stated 'The focus of this post will be on how we are making Ranger different from scout. Ideologically, the ranger is still a "super scout."' This post then went on to list many ways to improve the Ranger profession. Since then we have had only two things implemented (/areatrack and /camo) from that list, and both of those were unintentionally nerfed. /areatrack is nullified by player cities, spawn rates and vehicles; /camo was broken in a patch so that it doesn't work on most NPCs and in general is worse (costs resources and breaks far too easily) than /maskscent, a Scout skill.

What are the plans, if any, to differentiate the Ranger profession from the Scout profession and will this happen in the form of a Revamp or can it be done via minipublishes/hotfixes?

There are many excellent points and the Ranger community has done an great job bringing many great ideas to the development team and the dev team has also been kicking around some ideas also. The plan is to improve their combat usefulness in the CB and address other items on the schedule under the “Correspondent Issues” umbrella. I know the answer will probably be seen as a little vague, but the truth is that we are focused on all of the item’s in JustG’s letter and that’s a huge development effort. We are focused on the things that have the biggest impact on all the players. On the brighter side, we do have a window of opportunity coming up for player correspondent issues and we will take a serious look at what can be done at that time.

So there you have it. As I said, it does shine a glimmer of hope on the Ranger Prof .

Yeah just had a scan through.

All in all sounds good because atleast he says they are throwing around ideas for us, however what does concern me is the part about just G's letter. Pretty dissapointing as it looks like we wont get a 'Revamp' until well after SE, however hopefully coresspondant issues part is ok.

But yeah looks like we wont be getting anything new, just a few fixes here and there.

BRING ON THE COMBAT BALANCE!!!! WOOT, Rangers are to become hunters!!! that can actually kill something

On another note have you read the scout answer about camps? lol

Basically told you arnt worth it because you are a novice profession, wonder how they will answer our request for camps?

"You arnt worth it because your an elite profession that nobody plays"

I thought that statement was pretty committal.

Sorry Calculus,

I stick with Ranger/Rifleman because I just can't see myself playing the others, though I have tried. But realistically everyone here is far too optimistic. WoW will undoubtedly get it right and SOE will have waited too long relying solely on the StarWars license for customers.

Wish I had you optimism.

They have made statements like this before but unless they detail the changes coming it is noncomittal

Do we need a revamp? What are we asking for that needs a revamp? I think we can sneak Traps into the Correspondent Issues and I am almost positive that the harvesting bonus will show up then. I would argue that our role in the Combat Balance will gain creature defenses and/or CH pets trapping.

Disclaimer: These are all guesses, nothing has been told to me about our future.

I think we do in terms of a totally new camp system, perhaps the modular camp system, and the ground based traps and pvp traps are prety substantial that would most likely come in the form of a revamp.
