Anyone else surprised at
A) how long SWG has been around?
B) how long you've been in it?
Today marks Wyndinn's 2nd birthday in SWG and I'm completely shocked. Spent alot of money playing, alot of time playing, and its been a blast, especially being a part of the Ranger community for so long.
I remember finishing Master Scout and bidding fairwell to the scout boards, being very intimidated by all the professional Rangers, and ultimately being surprised at what a great and welcoming crew they were.
Thanks for all the fun Rangers!

I like my new purple name too. I didn't have to post 7985 to get it either, and now I don't have to worry about being one-starred to death by Calc anymore to get my next rank.
I'm KIDDING!!! Put that T-21 away!!!!

Two years? TWO whole years??
Most excellent!
Now, if the bunker houses that TH was talking about in the Vet Awards discussion ever make it to live, we're all coming to your place for a party
ps,. purple eh? Suits you sir. Suits you.

Actually, I would have to say no to both of those Bil. MMo's are the wave of the future (well, really they are the wave of the present
). I was more surprised that there was a Star Wars MMO (and it was not fantasy). I knew after the first week of playing that I wasn't going to stop playing until they pried the game out of my cold, dead hands. My future in the game is a little more bleak than it had been, but I think I can squeeze another year or two out of this, if I can make it through the next 2 months. Remember, there will almost certainly be a SWG 2

Im not suprised it lasted this long actually. With the StarWars name behind it that was assured. But the game has matured a lot in those two years. I am suprised that the other massive online game i play WWII ONline is reaching its 4th birthday. But not Starwars.
But to think of what we walked into with the beta two years ago. Seems like a completly different game doesnt it.
BTW Chauffeur650 isnt my beta login. My crafter account that i dont use in the forums is actually. My Ranger came after launch. Makes me wish i had always used the other login for the forums since it predates launch.

Allow me to correct myself.
I'm not surprised at the staying power of SWG. I'm more surprised in the way a Senior is when they say... wow have it really been four years?
SWG is by far one of the best MMOs I've played. The depth and detail are incredible. Yeah its plagued with bugs, but in the end there's enough to enjoy to make you forget sometimes.
By far the best gaming investment I've ever made!

I'm only a newb, at just over 1 year, but am pretty amazed that I still a) play regualrly and b) ENJOY playing regualrly.
I've tried a couple of other MMO's and found them really lacking in depth compared to SWG. When all progress is quest led and progress is so linear then getting to the next level is about the only goal in the game. Am sorry, if I just want to work from level to level to level, I'll stick with FP SEUGs.
Here I can go hunt today, decorate my house tomorrow, sell some junk the next day, faction farm at the weekend, just sit and fish of an afternoon.... and it doesn't matter if my toon is 'level x' or 'level y'. Sure, its nice to master a profession and get more proficient at it but there is sooo much more to be doing.
When I saw they were talking about 2yr anniversary gifts I thought it seemed like a LONG time away, and suddenly we're 1/6th the way there already!
A friend I introduced to the game, what I thought was a couple of weeks back, was visiting me last weekend and mentioned he's now been ingame nearly 6 months...
TIME FLIES!!

It's actually weird.
I'm a relative n00b when it comes to this game (I started after I got hooked with the 14day trial thing last August)... and I had a moment last month where I doubted my interest in the game.
But here I am now... know I'll probably play for a few more months.
The idea that I've been playing a game this regularly for almost a year is weird.
Wonder how I'll feel on my toons 'birthday'.

Well, that's what they said about Ultima Online
I don't know if there'll ever be a SWG 2... even though EQ did it. But I'm sure we'll see yearly expansions and improvements. I'm sort of surprised a new one is on the way so quickly.
I can't see myself sticking around for 8 years. I'll probably leave the game one day - and probably change my mind and come back later, just like I did in UO. Sometimes I get disinterested, frustrated or other things with SWG... But I still think it's a good game has shown a great amount of improvement in a short amount of time.
The same can't be said of UO.
