When did this become a bug? Any idea (other than anti-Scout/Ranger conspiracy theories) why mask scent is supposed to break on combat?
Any idea why I still bother trying to find a reason to play this game?

Mask scent and camo used to do this upon entering combat once upon a time after the devs somehow thought it would be good to do so. They changed it back because we were getting screwed big time on our camo kit investment.
Ill try ask some questions on this.

I definitely reading in the patch notes a while back that Mask Scent would no longer brake in combat. This was working as intended... Guess some dev found an old and outdated design document and took it upon him self to fix something that was not broken.

Unfortunately no word on /conceal working yet.. At least it wasn't in the patch notes. Will log in soon and test it out..

Same here. Me and JB have made repeated posts in regards to the concealment issue and as of yet no word which sucks big time.
Mask breaking auto on combat can be justified but camo cannot, problem is we cant test it.

Actually, this might not be so bad. It only applies to mask scent and not camo, thereby making camo more useful. This gives rangers a greater advantage over people with just scout skills so this might be a step towards making us more than 'scout advanced'. However, I still think they should leave things like this till our revamp unless they conflict with the design of the CU directly.

I recently wrote to Owen about this. I managed to find the post by Delta concerning the change to it NOT BREAKING DURING COMBAT. lol
Here's where it was: Delta concerning GreenMarine's change.

Incidentally, Greenmarine hasn't logged on since the 11th of March..

Here's the reasoning from Biology: Masking your scent means covering your own scent to disguise it as something else, or not your own scent. However, while engaged in vigorous activities, you begin to perspirate in reaction to an increase in body heat (from using energy to fight, your body heat increases, and at a certain point it becomes dangerous. Therefore, the skin is a membrane which allows movement of heat through it in order to maintain a consistent or safe internal temperature.) However, camouflage is attached to you, in one form or another, and should not break during combat unless physically removed.
