I was wondering what is the best(?) armor to wear, or is it better to not wear any at all.

It may depend on your weapon of choice and the method you use to fight.

I am a Pikeman and I use the heavy penalty moves to the ham bar. If I add armor that penalizes my moves even more I will often incap myself in one or two swings.

Of course I adopted this habit soon after release when there was only bone armor. There may be better armor now that I could benefit from but I have not found it and I am not looking very hard.

So to answer the question, no armor.

I wear only a Helmet to prolong my combat against Mind damaging opponents. I'm a pure melee fighter and close range fighting eatsthrough armor.

I use a Chitin 29% helmet/187 mind, when fighting against creatures or melee humanoids

I use a Composite 47% helmet/347 mind, when fighting against humanoids who use range weapons

The protection against ranged blaster shots to my head out weighs thepoor regeneration I get using the Composite helmet.

none, I have first aid 3 as my armor.
I am hosed though when I start taking mind damage since healing uses the mind pool.

I am an apprentice carbine specialists and use legshot ALL the time, that eats my action pool and I heal myself constantly in battle.

I had chitin armor and the HAM penalties were killin me. This was months ago and I assume there is better armor now that there are better armorsmiths and slicers who can help reduce the HAM costs on the armor.

I too only wear a helmet if I think my mind could potentially be in jeopardy. But otherwise none. On any creatures over 40 challenge I throw on the helmet becuase its usually the only thing I have to worry about if I have a healer with me. And I wear the helmet in PvP.

Seems like a common theme here. Too many HAM costs with armor, slow regen is annoying. I wear only a composite armor helm to protect my mind (and it looks pimp :smileywink I take it off when in camp grinding away at that 80k of frontieering /grumble.

I have a full suit of Ubese that I can switch to at the click of one button. I hardly ever wear it, but when things got nasty itdid save my life plenty of times.

Cause I prefer to fight yellow/red cons I rather not get hit at all so I don't need any armor at range. But with these mobs warping right onto you it'slike a life insurance.

None, had Chitin/Tantel but the death to my regen rates was too much. Taking the armor on and off all the time to regen just wasn't worth my time so I adapted my fighting style to not wearing armor.

Psh, I don't wear armor. I found that it just gets annoying after a while. Using up invo space, slow regen rates, constantly have to either replace it if it gets low...and of course, I fight both creatures and humanoids so I have to have an armor that defends against a lot of different attacks, but I just said "Forget it."

I go armorless. IMO I think it works for the Ranger profession.

Very cool, a lot of responses regarding only wearing helmets.

That's what I would expect mind you, since it is the most valuable pool (Mind that is).

And those Composite helmets do look sa-weet.
