Thread: jumped by all of a type of creature after attacking one?

I've been hunting Gronda for the last few weeks, and I know their behaviors pretty well. My normal tactic is to pick one and get him bleeding, then run him until he slows down and finish him off with my rifle.

Today, my first shot caused all Gronda in the area to rush me. As recently as two days ago (yesterday of course there was no game at all) Gronda were completely passive and I could attack one without enraging the entire pack. I don't know if the creature was altered, but I would think the more likely answer is that there was another **edit**-up of mask-scent. Is anyone else noticing weird animal behavior?

The last time I checked, Gronda were not aggressive... Aren't they an elephant like species?

  • /maskscent and /conceal are only checked against aggressive creatures (ones with red names).

  • Non-aggressive creatures don't care if you are concealed or not.

But it is entirely possible that someone has adjusted the A.I. behavior of the Gronda species to be assistive...

NRaas, thanks for the reply!

They are the elephant-like species yes, and they are not aggressive. However, their behavior today was exactly like what you would see when mask-scent caused an entire group of aggressives to attack you at once, and since I was masked at the timeit seemed like their might be a connection. Not in that the creatures care if I'm masked, but that somewhere in the code maybe the same bug was being triggered invisibly.

Does one of the lines in "examine" reveal if they are socially assistive? I'm not entirely clear on what all the details refer to, so I wasn't able to judge if they had been changed, although they didn't seem to have any different information today than earlier in the week.

Sorry for the double reply, I was trying to correct my spelling and hit "submit" twice by accident.

No... We have requested the item be added to the /examine window though.

Guys,

It appears that there is a bug now that is making ALL creatures social. I've heard a number of complaints about this. I'm going to post it on the Correspondent's forum now.

Here's another big change: I was attacked by a yellow mob yesterday. I ran past a group of spineflaps (rori butterflies) and a spineflap guard starting stalking me. I paid no particular mind because in three and a half months of playing, no yellow mob has ever initiated combat with me.

Sure enough, as soon as he caught up to me (and possibly before, they have a ranged attack)he began attacking me. Shortly thereafter, all his yellow buddies (and one red) joined in and incapped me before I could respond.

I thought that at least the basic gameplay rules would stay the same after the patch, but apparently not.

That sounds like the same bug jmatt. It was probably the red one that sniffed you out but since all mobs are assistive now it looked like the yellows were initiating combat.

Maybe all the creatures are backward now...I was killing off a pack of Crazed Gurrecks on Endor one at a time the other day...

This game is hilarious.

I was running around on Naboo earlier today, when I saw a femala kaadu.

Now, I have a T-21 and some pretty decent rifle skills, I can normally one-shot the females, and usually the males as well.

I take a shot at the female(hs3), and because of the screwed up PVE armour bug, I hit for about half what I do normally. At the same time, three more kaadu go aggro on me. I fire a warning shot at one.

It warps to me and kills me with one shot.

If that happens to me on Naboo, what will happen on the tougher planets I usually play on?

At least I can make Camo Kits now, I've been making some good money selling Molson Canadian, Coors and Sleeman 6-packs(cause that's all they're good for).
