Thread: Here's how slow the Frontiering tree is...

Saturday I activated my 2nd holocron -- Master Tailor. I'd just finished Musician, Dancer and Entertainer, and decided to become a Ranger again. I'd been a Ranger before, but dumped it in protest after the Mask Scent nerf a few months back.
I went to the Ranger trainer in Coronet, and trained back up to Ranger 1101 using the excess XP I had left over from before. I then crafted a couple of high-quality camps and started my Tailor grind while sitting in camp. I replaced the camps every 20 minutes, and crafted a replacement camp each time I set a new one. When I reached Frontiering2 I replaced the high-quality camps with field camps. I even logged my brother's account to sit in the camp with me for additional XP, and to train my Tailor advancement (ashe's Master Tailor).
Here's where things get wonky. I managed to grind the entire Tailor profession -- including the Artisan requirements -- in the time it took me to advance all the way through Frontiering 2 and midway through Frontiering 3.
Think about it. That's an entire elite crafting profession, and its starting profession requirements -- a total of 848,900 general and Tailor crafting XP -- in the same amount of time as it took me to advance 70K XPthrough the Ranger's camping tree.
Either Tailor's too easy to grind, or the Ranger's Frontiering tree is too slow. I'm not sure which.

Thanks devs, now you can grind/play frontiering by crafting camps (and traps by the way).
Old-timers remember that originally the only way to get through frontiering was to actually sit through the camps, preferrably with a group. Good luck soloing.
Although tailoring was also different - there was no practice mode originally, you had to periodically dispose of what you crafted. So no way you could run macro unattended for long time, you would fill in your inventory space pretty quick.
Just remembering "good ol' times"
I'm probably going to be a copout and grind frontiering when I get back to master. But at least I did it once the proper way. I think that entitles me

Yes, Frontiering is slow. I started Novice Scout and Novice Brawler at the same time and was sure I would be a Master Ranger way before mastering Teras Kasi. I had been using a camp just whenever I needed to heal myself or others. Now that I have Meditate 4 (TK) I don't even need the camps to heal in, so I guess I'll have to just sit in the camps for the last 7k of xp I need. Seems like a waste.
Ok, now I'm pissed.
I was sitting my camp while I wrote my last post above and disbanded after 39 minutes and all I got was 140 xp! **edit**! I will never be anle to get 7k xp at that f---in' rate.
7k?
That's nuthin. Seriously. Craft camps in practice mode while camping. ~100xp per camp.
I did Frontiering 4 in 3 days (about 6 hours total).
As you progress, make sure you start camping in the higher level camps. You'll get there quicker camping in a Field Base camp, rather than a Basic camp.
Good luck. ![]()
