Wait until they fix the pop-tarts, then see them all run for the new & improved smuggler with it's nice root.

on a more pleasant note, ive met two fledgling scouts on their way to ranger recently, and not by way of respec. both seemed actually interestd in *gasp* being a ranger for the lifestyle, not the krayts.

i am not grateful.....the last thing we need before (maybe anyway) we get a major revamp is for newbs to respec to ranger hoping to solo ancients only to find that our poptarts get fixed and they whine and cry.....This could hurt our prof (the newbs, not the poptarts getting fixed).... What happens when we have doubled the amount of rangers on the servers.....here is a clue....samething happened to bounty hunter....they were feared.....now they are ridiculed,,,,(u might be a respec BH if)///......I am sorry to sound elitist....but we are..... and what makes us that way, is the long grind to Master Ranger. We have to know all this crap....trapping, harvesting, etc.....Respecs will only hurt us I think.

i still feel special though, as i'm the only MasterRanger in a 80+ person guild

^^ Same I am the only Ranger in the guild. For a whle it looked like everyone was going bounty hunter. Now it looks like there isd a swing to melee again for a bunch of people.

Whilst im happy for anyone to respec to ranger for the right reasons (to be a ranger), i have no sympathy for those respecing or even grinding up to use a skill that is clearly not working as intended.

Same about the only ranger in guild too. Had a good friend of mine pick up ranger during the respec period but after 2 days she couldnt cope with the massive downsides to the profession, i dont blame her.

I'm the only ranger in my guild of about 65 as well, and now that you point it out that's kind of odd.

When I go out in a group, they are all envious of my traps.

They love the cool looking camps I make.

Our creature handlers love that I can search a square kilometer for babies they can tame.

The bounty hunters are always asking me to join them to track jedi.

They all saw me making a million credits per hour harvesting ullers when ahazi had the great hide drop there.

I do more damage than almost anyone in the guild with my rifle & advanced head shot (still haven't figure that one out - my rifle isn't uber).

While in a grinding group everybody loves that I can find the next rancor lair, etc with minimum downtime between lairs.

I can pull a creature or an npc out of any mob by going cover/conceal shot.

Yet none of my guild has any desire to switch to rifles or ranger. Either i'm in a good guild or they think it's an Ithorian thing.

You had better have some good clothing. My tailor alt was so frustrated at the lack of Ithorians on Lowca. Ithorians by far have the best clothing in the entire game, and such a tiny percentage of the population can take advantage of them. if you don't have any good clothing, find a tailor on your server, and make his/her day by ordering some clothing.

sorry, that was WAAAAAY off topic.

Lately my guild has been doing Necrosis and the Avatar. So I get invites to come along.

Now when you are grouped with 3 jedi1 other melee master, a pistoleer or two and then me with my rifle. They are not inviting me for my Ranger Skills.

Rifles will outdamage Jedi hands down. Which can be a problem. I find pulling my LD-1 rifle out and recycling lower damage shots as fast as I can is better than pulling my T21 cannon out and laying the smackdown on a target with Adavanced Snipershot.

I.e. Necrosis the Last thing I want is that SOB hitting me with two Light sabers. Last time I got hit for 780 points a whack and got hit 3 times before I got out of range.

So this is one Ranger who monitors the combat spam. I adjust my specials accordingly I use the Jedi for what they should be used for damage sinks. When I see an NPC get knocked down then and only then do I do a Advanced special.

Best advice is monitor the combat spam and keep your best attack below what any tank is doing.

Another bit of advice when doing the Necrosis run. Don't bother using P-darts, stick to throwing L-darts and Glow wires. The goal is to pull aggro with traps but let the melee folks do the hard work of killing. Make sure you get in one shot from your weapon and then throw traps keeps the states on the mob.

I told him that they were going to "fix" it. He said, "what?...they cant...I just used my token respec...they cant do this to me." I said....did you only respec to ranger in order to hunt krayts?....he said yes.... I said.....DOH!.

To anyone that respec's to Ranger for this I say "LOL!! Sucks to be you!"

And it would be my estimate that our numbers have already doubled. It's a double edged sword, good in that we have more voices so that when the devs look at what they need to think about doing next Rangers will be higher on the priority list, of course that next thing might be fixing bugs.

I would rather people respec to Ranger and use up their token then them waiting until things get fixed. That way, they use their respec and drop the profession. Everything loses its dignity when you can change to and from it with the click of a mouse.

Owen wrote about massive downsides - Huh?

Sure we take the most SP of any master. Yes, we suck in PvP because of the SP drain.

And I care because? These are not really downsides anyhow.

We can solo any creature in the game. Maybe not NPCs, but creatures sure as hell die fast. And I get harvest, to use or sell. And I get loot to use, or SELL FOR BIG FREAKING MONEY to be able to afford my lavish lifestyle.

I now have 12 boxes of FS filled, one SP left. Soon it will be time (sooner if I didn't have to work). Until then, I am loving the profession more than ever. FOTM is fleeting, we have been there before and the dabblers left.
