I am sort of in the same situation. When I found out that TKs cannot 'Tank' unless you combine with another 'Tank' profession I started to look at what I should change into for combat. I decided on Squad Leader, because with this I can still be somewhat effective when grinding FS points, and still keep Ranger. I think I even (somehow...I think with the help of a post-CU character builder) figured out how to have _some_ Jedi combat and still be able to be a Master Ranger.

Now, however I am starting to see that SL is unsoloable high end. I am mostly thinking right now about getting another combat prof on Kettemoor to compliment Squad Leader, and changing my borked MCH on Radiant to Ranger. While this would work if I played on Radiant alot, I know that as soon as I click 'OK' in the respec window I would miss Ranger. It took me awhile to get it, and I just do not think I could let it go so quick, even though another character would still be a Ranger.

In any case you probably will not have to let any Ranger points go just yet, as there are the 'fun' phases to go through in the village and 6 trees still to fill. Unfortunately, the boxes we can use Scout XP for trading requires you have either Artisan for "Luck," or Master Medic for "Persuasion." Plus you have like 4 points I think to start those boxes...In reality you really don't have to lose any of Ranger or Rifleman if you were to just fill one tree. I would still unlock the trees, but only fill say Ranged speed or Accuracy to help with your fightin skillls.

Just a thought and Empathic ear for ya.

Ehor

The answer is... "you mustdo what you feel is right... of course"

However for game mechinics keep in mind. Once you unlock you get a second toon... that you can make your ranger!

Just had to state the obvious since no one else did!

And you can keep you template through your entire FS grind, just do the math figure out how much of each type of experience you need, and bank it. Then when you're ready, have all the experience and the 6 unlocks, train it all at once dropping your MRanger then.

24 Hours later you should get the Malliachie mission from the old man
1 to 4 days after that you will have your padawan trials done (and 2nd char slot)

Log out your main for 2 weeks, regrind your template with your alt

I'm in the same situation as you, I'd like to get a glowstick, but MR has been the most fun (not to mention most lucerative) profession I have done. So I'm doing both

Do what you want. But Jedis gets more attention from Devs than any other profession. Im not gonna go for Jedi myself (I only have ranged speed box in village). Too many of them =P Wait to see how Ranger turns out in rewamp before you make your decision.

Woah, nothing good to see here people, meh don't have an ubar, colorfull pwn sig. Just move along.

I am sure you didn't mean to pit player profession vs other player profession, but I think thats how this sounds...

I was making a comment about the state of the game. Compare Ranger fixes/upgrades vs. Jedi fixes/upgrades. In other words, if you want dev attention, go Jedi, if you want to stay in a broken, undervalued profession, stay Ranger.

Jedi are more important to the devs than Rangers.

1.225 million Force Sensitive exp per tree. And there's no cap on the exp either, at one point I had over 4 million senses exp from having traded in scout exp. So don't make the decision now. It will take a long time to bank up what exp you need to unlock. You'll have plenty of time to think about it with all the trips you'll be making to the village. I've thought about it since publish 9 when I logged in and the Force was with me already.

I'll probably go ahead and do the force thing for the experience of doing it, for the second slot, and for some really cool roleplay opportunities as a hidden jedi. The best part is, I can keep master ranger through most of my grind and it shouldn't effect being a newbie jedi too much. I understand it's really hard being a double master padawan, but I'll drop all of carbineer and use the LS as my primary weapon. This will make all the traps awesome to help in creature hunting.

The thought of wielding a saber while roaming the wild might be fun, yet I rely more on my trusty pets than some crystals and a focussed lightbeam....

If you don't want it, then don't. You can just stay a force sensitive Ranger.

For myself, I want to go jedi just for the alt char ^_^;

I plan on either being a jedi/Ranger, or dropping jedi once I get my alt... not sure yet....

Don't get me wrong Calc. I have been a master ranger maybe 4 different times on 2 servers. We have always been neglected. From day 1 till now. I just thought it wasn't a good idea to pit and create more anamosity between players.

I am a Jedi and I am a Ranger. I do not cry as either (though I can get irritated at times, for instance before I learned the new trapping system) But to say something like that will just give in to anger and hatred. As a blue glowey I didn't excpect that from you...

Mind you... I am a dark jedi so please by all means let that anger fester! Nothing wrong with diving into the true power of the force.
