For myself, I want to go jedi just for the alt char ^_^;

I plan on either being a jedi/Ranger, or dropping jedi once I get my alt... not sure yet....

lol. I have a full templated Dark Jedi Knight. It took me 1.5 years to unlock and become full templated. I have more fun playing my (so far) cl 54 rifleman/ ranger than I do with my knight.

You guys thing ranger has it rough... try playing jedi from day one and you might see things differently.

Um, I think Calc was stating a fact, not trying to fan any flames or anything. It's a FACT that Jedi are probably the most vocal community here, the most desired by the "leet powergamer mentality" kiddies, and the one they're really "selling" in the new ads. Just look at the last 3 publishes since the CU, it's not driving wedges into the community to point out the bloody obvious:

Pub 17:

  • We lose the Ranger unique /conceal skill and now become "camo crafter" in an attempt to sooth CL1 crafters getting eaten tending harvies on Dath.

  • We gain uselsss Kashyyyk camo

  • Jedi get 5 fixes / updates

Pub 18:

  • We get... nothing

  • Jedi get Force Run as a toggle now (boy sure wish I could do that with Burst Run as a Ranger, that would be nice)

Pub 19:

  • We get... nothing

  • There are 5 Jedi profession sets of fixes / balances, and a general set of Jedi fixes lower in the patch notes. Some complain about SOME of these fixes being nerfs of specific branches of Jedi which most likely were overpowered; some actually realize (even on the Jedi forums) that this is to bring things closer to "balance" since having an Alpha class in a MMORPG will prevent any concept of balance

Now, those are just the 3 major publishes since the CU. The CU broke several traps (either bugged and working better than they ever should, not working at all, or providing almost worthless states and debuffs - getting an extra 1 point of damage or applying a state that's gone even before I can attack or land another trap is pretty pointless), broke /rescue by removing the /peace command, broke or made mootour creature knowledge skills, the AI changes have made it safer to run around WITHOUT camo or maskscent if you're a higher level char, breaking camo or maskscent now seems to always 100% put you into combat which seems to be a bug, and the states that used to be the sole provence of the Ranger (And were deemed to powerful to ever let us apply them to NPCs or in PvP) were handed out to numerous other professions. We're essentially a CL54 toon with a CL80 rating and nothing to show for it due to being "out of scope". Were ANY of these profession breaks addressed in the three publishes since then, or any of the numerous hotfix patches? No. And we're CERTAINLY not alone. We're all familiar with the issues that hit our Tailor and DE friends in Pub 18, and now our CH friends in pub 19. The CH one is possibly the worst of the bunch IMHO since it completely and utterly broke an entire profession when it went live, and it was called out any number of times in testing prior to going live.

When I can look at just the last 3 or 4 major publishes and see 1 "fix" for us (that is largely useless) when probably 2/3 of our profession is bugged, broken or really provides almost no value for the skill points invested, when I see 3 professions almost entirely broken currently due to game breaking bugs for them that were introduced by these patches(BE tissues for tailor crafting, droids losing stats and missing commands, pets with nerf to end all nerfs), and then I see one class pretty consistenly getting fixed, balanced, patched, updated, and generally being addressed in just about every patch - well sure, I'd find it a little hard to say that Jedi AREN'T getting a lion's share of the attention in the game. Maybe it's not 100% attention they necessarily WANT, but the fact is, they ARE getting addressed and getting updates and patches and fixes, which is better than Ranger, SL, Dancer, Musician, ID, Politician, Tailor, DE, CH or many other professions are getting.

Jedi is what's making the money now. If it's so darn important to make sure all the professions are "balanced" why are we STILL not seeing a single post even hinting that there is a Ranger profession in the game, never mind that it's clearly NOT "balanced" for the post-CU world since it was intentially left OUT of any balancing done in the CU, other than tossing us the token CL/health bone to calm us down? We were told we were out of scope, we all accepted that (grudgingly for some) and bought into the line that we'd get balanced after the CU (hopefully "sooner" v "later"). I think Calc was absolutely, 110% right in observing that if you want to play a profession that gets the Dev attention you play Jedi, or possibly BH. If you want to have fun, but remain very much on the fringe and learn how to work around all the bugs, issues, and rarely see any attention of any kind... stay Ranger. Play the lifestyle, not the broken skills. Use what we have, accept what we lack, and accept that what we lack probably isn't going to addressed for another 3-6 months, if even then.

May the Force give me the courage to perform the tasks I can,

The peace to accept the things I cannot do,

And the wisdow to know when to back off that krayt and let it eat those l33t jebays trying to kill steal from me!

Please don't think I meant any disrespect by what I said. Ages ago when Atiro first became a master ranger you were one of the first to salute me. I have never thought badly of you at all... we were both Dosh rangers. I respect your opinions and I don't think any title or status should change your opinion or how you express them. I was just taken a bit off.

I sorta regret saying that now. I feel like a SOE nazi. My apologies!

To be fair Jedi were not balanced in the CU at all, which is why (I assume) they are getting balanced now.

To be bitter, neither were we.

The old man gave me a visit today. I never wanted this to happen. I just was getting badges and I guess I must have picked up a necessary POI. Anyways, so this old geser walks up to me and asks if I want to watcha crystal. And, well, it was exciting when I realized what it was. So I told him sure- I will watch the crystal.

And now I have a really messed up orientation on the whole matter. I know if I pursue my force sensitivity, I will not be able to stay a master ranger forever. And I will be leaving a very small, tight knit community for a fast growing group of power gamers. I have always been anti-jedi; in fact, I have even gone so far as to say they shouldn't even be in the game. And i never did try and get FS. It just happened.

So I am kind of messed up on the decision I have to make. I have an alt which I roleplay as my main charcater's sister. Gledako is the character I have put all of my energy into- I started a guild with him a few months ago, I have put a lot of time into building it up, and I will always play him more than any other toon. Heck, I got my alt this past week or so at the beginning of double XP and so far all I have done is get heavy harvesters up and get novice weaponsmith. I could, in theory, make Gledako Jedi while grinding up Elaysia, my alt, as a ranger, but I know I wouldn't play her much. Plus I would feel like I was shamming myself for playing an alt ranger. then once I get padawan I could make the new alt the crafter I had intended Elaysia to be, but then really, like I said I spend all my time on Gledako, how could I manage three characters? I suppose if I grounf them to full template now it would work, since I have a month or so of free time before I need to think about school. But then when school starts up I will be in marching band again, and there goes all my time until November.

So I just want to hear your guys' take on this. I have always been a ranger, it's what Gledako is. But Jedi is looking so interesting, especially sicne this all popped up on me without even knowing. even when I wouldhave to start dropping skill boxes to fit in Jedi, I would drop rifleman skills first for sure. But I dont know that I can make myself drop Master Ranger. I am not sure about it. It has been a lifestyle- when I think of not being able to set up a HTFB, not harvesting mad amounts of resources, not throwing poptarts and not camoing up for dangerous hunts on hostile planets, I cant even imagine what I would feel. It would be a WHOLE NEW game for me I think.

Here's a couple of options:

1) Unlock your second toon, and then make them both Master Rangers
2) On your Jedi toon take a few Light Sabre trees, Master Defender and 4000 Bounty Hunter, then go do your bit to exterminate all the power gamers and watch them whine for dev attention.

Go Jedi, and make your 2nd toon a Ranger. That's what I'm doing, although I should get something that hits hard. I've been a M.Fencer/Ranger forever.

Strongly anti-jedi here, but when the old man showed up and called me by name...

If nothing else, do the survival branch of fs.

But if you must go jedi, I support it. I believe that anyone who loves the ranger class and goes jedi will turn out all right, unlike the other 95% of jedi. But you might want to just talk a look at the first page of the jedi forums and actually look at who will be your new peers. That's a scary, flaming forum.

Hereisa very useful thread, that apparently the jedi have forgotten about.

Just finished the village quests so im now a BH/ranger with FS trees turning Jedi.

TBH the only reason I did the vilalge was for content as i was content (clever use of language eh?) with my skills, broken as they were, preCU, post CU ranger is even more buggered so im going to start waving my lightstick about. However I know what my alt will be, waiting for the day ranger becomes what it should ahve always been.
