Well, since the creature harvesting business is taking a turn for the worst (i.e. my server won't pay more than 30 cpu for anything, and there are rarely any contracts at all,) I have decided to go back to my first love. I enjoyed Combat Medic pre-CU because it was a profession whose combat abilities depended upon it's skill in crafting its own weapons. Our guild doesn't have a medicine crafter, nor a pet crafter, so I have decided that it is time to go back to Bio Engineer. I'll still be CL 80 when I master it, I'll be able to wear my Tantel Armor (which looks really good with my +25 Trapping Lekku Ys'Rak,) and I will be in a position to both fight and craft. I am still considering whether to go with enough artisan to have a vendor, or take some healing abilities. (Any advice would be appreciated, hehe.)

The smart thing to do is the stuff that you enjoy, otherwise it stops being a game and becomes a job.

Have fun, remain a ranger inside, and travel well.

Lol, I'll still be Master Ranger on the outside.

I guess I'll be using camoflauge more often, when I go to sample Rancors

Well you might be glad to know you're not the only Ranger grinding BE. Last week I dropped all of my Rifleman skills for CH and decided I'd dabble a bit in BE too. But now I've changed my mind and I'll be going for Master Bio-engineer. It's a really fun profession, and my guild members love getting free pets to put in their house . Unfortunately this means I'll be dropping Master Ranger tomorrow (stay tuned for a sig change) and will eventually end up at Ranger 0/0/3/0 . But hopefully, with + maskscent clothing tissues and most of the tracking line, the withdrawal symptoms won't be so bad. I think the main thing I'll miss is the trapping line (and it's typical I had to go and make half a dozen crates of pdarts the other week ).

have fun bioengine... i've never done combat medic, but bioengineer was always a lot of fun... mmm, i never really got into crafting anything but critters though... i really liked how it was more of an art than a science, hehe... maybe it's a little more refined now...

oh.. and a word of warning... i don't think BE levels count toward your CL... so the only bonus you'll be getting is from the scout/medic prereqs...

Ok, I coulda sworn it gave CL. Now I can't find where I saw that.

Can anyone confirm this for me, please? Bio-engineers have an armor cert, at the very least, for Recon armor, so I don't know why they wouldn't have CL increase.

Then again, I remember who implemented these changes....

i could be wrong about that... last time i played with it was during the free respec period...

also... they only get Recon armor mitigations in the novice block... meaning you won't be able to wear anything above basic Recon* armor without penalties... BE is one of the weird professions that, like ranger, didn't fit the CU mold too well...

*edited: you will still haveadvanced Battle armor certs from CM

BEs get a small CL increase, but it is not the same as a combat profession. A master BE will be CL 17 I believe (maybe from the Scout pre-requisites). You may want to ask on the BE boards to find the exact amount.

You get CL 17 at master BE. You certainly will *not* be level 80 no matter what you couple with BE.
