Im about to go hunt on lok, for gurks.
No armor
No Buffs.
Just food, Camo, Concealshot, and traps.
This will either be a day of great celebration, or great cloning.

well, 3 gurks down, im not dead. Im thinking im gonna need novice medic. Brandy+ahrisa keep the midn high, and kill ham costs to it, but the health/action costs are putting me down to about 2/3rs health/action left after each gurk.
Any suggestions on S/Q/F food?

I used to have a formula for food buff only hunting, but I can only remember Vassarian Brandy for mind, Won Won for action related stats and...something for Health related stats (I am drawing a blank). I used TKM powerboost in conjunction with these foods and it worked pretty well.

2 FOOD options i use for unbuffed hunting!!!
OPTION 1
Garrmorl x1----------------------->(like brandy but for the "red bars") - limited because partially broken, can reach 380 though.
Brandy x1
Scrimpi x1------------------------->(long,long quickness buff)
BE Teltier noodles x (3-5)------>(Very long low filling stamina buff) e.g. +90(max 96 with 1000 resources)x(5) for 1hr....easily
Comments - Will be better if garrmorl fixed, but because brandy and garrmorl are drinks theres no room for the wonderful BE Aitha....see below). Its hard to get a 12-14 point artisan, the BE enhancers to make teltier noodles + not really worth the time/effort!!
OPTION 2
Brandy x1-2
Gruuvan Shaal x1 -------->Health "ahrisa"
Scrimpi x1-2 --------------->Action "ahrisa"
BE exo wafers (awesome!!! 25% reduction @ 5 filling......byebye synsteak)
BE aitha 250+ (easily) Mind stim with very low filling (unlike Blue Milk)
Novice medic with this option (in fact i would recommend with both options)
Getting this stuff will mean u can hunt wearing ubese 76% and spam specials. The problem is getting this stuff.....a lot of items (especially the artisan ones) are not made, or at least not made well!!! - just try getting the lovely scrimpi!!
To be honest (sadly) its easier to just get "Rip-off doctor buffs" and pop a brandy or 2. Hopefully the revamp will diminish doctor buffs and some of the chef/artisan foods above will gain higher demand!!

Gurks? I don't even buff. P dart and bleed em.
Rancors, I buff with food. Pdart, bleed and blind em.
Just don't stand toe to toe and spam specials, as that is really dumb.

hehe thats my normal style of play :-) and I love it.
I dont wear armor, just clothes wiith skill tape mods to my Mask Scent & Camo, as well as a shirt that does + to my Cover (have a helmet and boots that add some to my melee defense and poison resist)
just me, my lightweight duds, no armor, no buffs (save for what I get from the food I carry with me, and forage). my trusty DXR6 rifle, and my harvester droid (my mobile trap launcher, storage compartment and crafting station)
I finally realized I have no need for armor because I never get hit :-) my Concealment mods all but guarantee it, and coupled w/ Conceal Shot. im golden.
I east somme 40% syntsteak, with a vangerian Canape, and 2 swigs of Vasarian Brandy, and my mind pool never shows white, and I shopped hard for my DXR6 to have really low HAM usage. Basically can stay out in the bush indefinately.
Congrats on following the true way of the Ranger :-) You will find it most rewaring on many levels.

Yar. It went rather well, probably gonna pick up novice medic for stim Bs. At the moment im not a Master rifle, only 2133, or something like that. However, it is great to not feel obligated to finish the last hour of a buff session, or be able to start hunting at 3 am when no docs are on.

At that level, you might want to consider a spraystick for unbuffed hunting. The spraystick won't cause as much damage butit has a much faster firing speed so you can do a lot more crowd control (like traps, Suppression Fire, and Warning Shot). And you probably won't want to bother with damage specials too much (you'll hurt yourself more than you hurt the target) so the healing/buffs become less important. An E11 or Laser can also fit in here (especially with armored enemies) but it gets a bit trickier because of the slower attack speed. Although this is departing from the "sniper" like rifleman a bit.

Actually, I spent an hour working on my stat migration. Most of my stuff is in SQF, so I have like, 500 health and action. I lose no Mind costs at all, and a brandy can pop me up to enough that i can liberally used stimpacks. But, yeah, little to no ham costs with a dxr6b and concealshot.
