I just recently got novice ranger and was wandering around on Endor last night when i saw this message on my screen 'you are being stalked by an arachni warrior' (spelled that wrong i think)..it sort of freaked me out and caught me off guard heh. i am going to assume thats a ranger thing because before i got novice ranger i hadnt ever seen that before.

i picked up novice ranger to get the tracking tree to go along with my bounty hunter skills..but am really liking ranger so far. despite all the negative remarks i have come across on the board. its nice to be able to go out hunting and not worry about running out of missions..just /areatrack and find some nearby targets to kill. it comes in pretty handy. having the ability to track players/npc's and animals is awesome..not to mention the kick ass camps with crafting stations inside..ranger isnt half bad

Ranger is a lot better than BH.

We are smarter. Our missions almost (90%) work, and you don't have to travel from planet A to B to do them. If you take destroy missions, you get paid twice, once for the mission, and than again when you sell the harvest. Smart Rangers take missions for good harvest. If we are willing to wait, we never pay for healing, our camps do that for us. Docs, BEs, Armorsmiths and Tailors all love us, so we often can trade for stuff with them. We laugh at grinders, and overcharge them for crappy stuff so they can happily grind away.

Some of our stuff is broke, but not so badly we can't do our profession and make money and have fun.

Just my opinion

and ranger kicks butt when it come to combat...just sit there and trap the creature, then kill it. And we will be even better with /hide, /combatconceal, and /ambush...*thinks of all the fun he will have playing tricks on his friends with /hide*

Umm, I'll answer your question

Yes, the "You are being stalked by..." is specific to Ranger. I noticed that too when I got Ranger. Scared the hell out of me the first time

It's kindof a useless, but cool if it meant something skill. Some creatures are supposed to follow you for some time and spring on you when you least suspect it. Right now they just head in your direction for about 5m and then loose interest. so the "you are being stalked by . . ." message is supposed to be a warning that if you don't do something about it you may be attacked. It means nothing realy, but if they make the ai in creatures better, it will be a cool skill indeed.

Whenever that day comes I hope we will have some nice new static traps to go along with it. For instance: decoy! You get the being stalked message.... you crouch down to place a nice decoy of yourself and crawl away.... and the creature pounces on the decoy and triggers the trap, releasing a variety of possible effects (modular traping system anyone?) maybe root, stun or defense down, or maybe even a nice damage effect for once. Ah but we rangers can dream, can't we?

Hey about that decoy idea.. I have been doing the following: once I know I am being stalked and followed, I head off 20 or so meters then Maskscent immediately change course/direction and the stalking critter follows to the spot where i masked scent and it loses my trail.

Dunno if anyone else is doing this but its fun to watch em bimble about at your last pre-maskscent location hehe

Yes, the whole stalking announcement comes as part of being a Ranger. It is very useful. The idea is that you are so good at your profession that you have like a sixth sense that tingles when something is stalking you. And since you can track and read signs in nature your sense warns you of what creature it is or most likely is that is stalking you.

i often find the stalk message comes up shortly after my Mask scent drops and its a timely reminder to Mask up again hehe.

As mentioned before all you do is re mask and move away a bit and the stalkers will lose your trail. It will also allow you to prepare in advance, for any attacks by the stalkers, if they are the creature type your hunting which is usefull.

In some places its easier to hunt by Stalking message than to use tracking )

I have to say i had not realised it was a Ranger skill only, its been so long since i wasa scout, i presumed they had it too.

It's actually useful if you have the patience to try to lure a creature away from its lair and fellow creatures. You can separate it from the herd, useful for us carbineers with borked specials that aggro mobs by mistake.

Pay attention when stalked by swamp tusk cats on Rori!Theystalk forlong distancesin groups of 2-3 and speed in for the attackwhen you think they're long gone. Usually when you're engaging another lair.

Good point, but if something is stalking me, throw on a mask scent and tell everyone else in group to get the hell out of there.... i conceal as many people as I can while getting far far away

Nothing was crazier than when popped up: "It seems you are being stalked by a Blurrg Raptor"
