Thread: SWGRanger Poll: What is your Primary Weapon Choice?
Oddly enough, your top 3 choices are the same as mine.
Rifles have always been my favorite. Nothing like going prone at extreme range and doing a Ma Bell.
1) Rifles
2) Rifles
3) Rifles
I tried some of the other weapon-professions, but they don't... hm... fit my playstile.
max damage assault bowcaster with 94 sac and a max damage max sac trando hunting rifle. adk'd ftw ![]()
1) ADK'd LD1 (rifle)
2) ADK'd DC15 (rifle)
I was originally a Master Pistoleer/Master Ranger, but I switched over to Master Rifleman about a month before the CU. The only Carbine experience I have is when I mastered Marksman.
I would pick Rifles
Not much of the melee type, not my playstyle.
Since I've never really seriuosly tried Carbines, I don't know if I would rule it out.
Pre-CU Pistoleer was fun, just lacking damage output (which is why I switched to Rifleman - I liked to hunt solo and some of he mobs were too tough for a pistol). Not sure about Post-CU Pistoleer though... how's their damage output?
All in all, my preference is Rifles, Rifles, Rifles. The idea of the SEAL/Marine ReconSniper is just to strong!
I have been Master Rifles since I started playing in April of last year. After reading the Dev post and reading carbines in that post I decided to look at at carbines some.
Now as a riflemen my main Specials were Snipershot, Headshot , Startleshot and Legshot. Versus NPCs I relied heavily on help from friends to stay alive and keep NPCs off me.
So last week I bought the bullet and switched to Master Carbine to give it a shot. Right now I have a Carbine that hits for 471-1050ish, Really fast Attack Speed. The SAC is 75, with SAC pup 55. Now using a SAC pup and drinking Vasarin, eating blob candy Action is not a problem.
So I now have several options when kiting. Most of my main specials are hitting for almost as much as Headshot did I think the max modifier is 1.5 special so not quite as good as Rifles.
I mastered Saturday night so I didn't test much yesterday. I was seeing damage hitting from 1300-1600 with my grinding Carbine which was 401-891.
So the specials.
I have an AOE now, fairly hard hitting.
I have a Snare, I swear it seems more effective than riflemen snare but that may just be me.
I have a knockdown, great for those melee targets approaching you.
I have an AOE supression shot simular to the old supression shot rifle had pre-CU.
BY constantly alternating specials and not spamming the same thing over and over. I was very effective on the Avatar PlatfromSaturday night grinding. So while not able to do as much damage as a rifle in a one to one comparsion. I can do crowd control much easier than I could with rifles. I am also finding it easier to kite while hunting without the Riflemen penalty while moving I move slighlty faster.
Before with Rifles when Krayt hunting. I would lead off with a legshot or P-dart,mostly both. Use the terrain to kite the krayt. Send in Pets to keep healing down.
With Carbines same applies. Hit Krayt with snare and trap and kite. The differnce being if I cannot reapply the snare right off the bat I have a knockdown to use and reapply the trap then.
The thing I liked proably the most with carbines was having an AOE back while we will never see StrafeSHot2 back having an AOE with carbines was really nice. When I found myself in situations were I was kiting multiple targets and wanting to break contact, or just kite them all at once I had that option. I could apply knockdows to each one at a time or I could use an AOE "stafing shot" and hit them all.
Carbines for a week now.

My bare hands. You can be much more accurate that way.
My second choice would be theTrandoshan Hunting Rifle.
