Thread: RAF Ranger Alliance Force
Even with all the bitching and moaning going on within our ranks, I still believe in the Ranger and I have absolute faith that our day will come and we will be a force to be truly respected. I worked hard to get myself to this position and plan on keeping my title and I will raise Holy Hell if I have to in order to bring this profession in line.
However, Holy Hell is better raised if you have a few more bodies behind you. And to that end, I have been thinking about starting a PA that would be Rangers only. Yes, I know that we are typically loners and generally hang out high in the mountains or deep in the swamps. But that doesn't mean I don't want to feel like I belong somewhere. I'd like to know that if I need help or information, I have a group to turn to. And what better group could you have than your peers!!
I imagine it kind of like an elite hunting/military unit. I say military because, hopefully, once they introduce space stuff, we will be an elite fighting force in space!! Remember the Rangers in Babilon 5 (I think it was that show)? The elite space fighting force that all the aliens revered and respected were the Rangers, were they not? Do I remember that incorrectly? And so what if I am - I still say we can be an elite fighting force in the future.
Anyways, I digress. My initial thought is that we could be helping each other out, both in the game and, of course, work as a unified voice here in the forums.
We would keep a updated database of what animals are giving what resource (web sites keep track of resources, but not what beastie provides them), have a central point for other professions to order the best quality resources, provide rangers for hunting parties, keep tabs on resource prices (and if anyone is lowballing resources - we buy them out!). Oops, sorry - that was my evil rl business side slipping in.
I am new to the online game community, so on the surface, it seems to me it could be a pretty neat guild, association, union or whatever else one might call it. But maybe you experienced folks have different thoughts?
It was my dream to get a Ranger force going on Ahazi, but sadly i've no interest in the game lately. If you wonder why i posted here:

But if things change, i think starting one would be great.
Perhaps not as a PA, but just as a general unofficial Guild.
Get lists of all Rangers on various servers, maybe have the odd meeting, and get together occasionally to have all-ranger trips to Endor and the like.

could you imaging the sight of a dozen master rangers tossing traps at a mad sized group of creatures...
if nothing else, try to control the bone/hide/meat market.. BWWAAHAHHAHAHAHA ha.
That sounds like a good idea, I was also thinking that the few Master Rangers we have could train the Novice Rangers(such as myself) to move up in the skill tree.

I was thinking of trying this on Flurry. I've come across a lot of rangers recently. I don't want to post anything official though, not until I get some things concrete in my mind.

Good question! My initial thought is for players whose main career is Ranger. But then again, having Rangers with other elite careers might not hurt?
Here is the Ranger Creed for US Army. Maybe we could use this for a rough draft and change to our needs:
The Ranger Creed
Recognizing that I volunteered as a Ranger, fully knowing the hazards of my chosen profession, I will always endeavor to uphold the prestige, honor, and high esprit de corps of my Ranger Regiment.Acknowledging the fact that a Ranger is a more elite soldier who arrives at the cutting edge of battle by land, sea, or air, I accept the fact that as a Ranger my country expects me to move farther, faster and fight harder than any other soldier.
Never shall I fail my comrades. I will always keep myself mentally alert, physically strong and morally straight and I will shoulder more than my share of the task whatever it may be. One-hundred-percent and then some.
Gallantly will I show the world that I am a specially selected and well-trained soldier. My courtesy to superior officers, neatness of dress and care of equipment shall set the example for others to follow.
Energetically will I meet the enemies of my country. I shall defeat them on the field of battle for I am better trained and will fight with all my might. Surrender is not a Ranger word. I will never leave a fallen comrade to fall into the hands of the enemy and under no circumstances will I ever embarrass my country.

Well, I have been talking to several Rangers on Ahazi, and so far everyone seems interested in this idea. I've already started gathering Ranger names so I can send out invitations for a Ranger conference. I suspect that by this weekend I should have enough names to get something started.
If there are any Rangers on Ahazi that are interested, please send me an in-game email.
In the meantime, maybe those of us here could start laying out the groundwork for putting this together. Like I said, I am new to this and don't really know how formal or informal such a group should be.
I know I don't want it to be an uber-strict system since, again, being Rangers, we usually like to do our own thing. I think there should be some sort of rules/creed we should all abide by once you agree to join, but exactly what I don't know yet, heh heh.
