Thread: I am very disappointed...

Guys,

I'm very disappointed today...

...with the attitudes of my fellow Rangers.

We all knew that the update was coming. We all knew that there were going to be bugs with it - when are there never any bugs with an update? We've all lived through the "big" update a month ago, so we know that when new things get implemented they sometimes cause new problems.

So I was rather dismayed when I jumped over here from the Scout forum and was met with dozens of posts like: "/conceal is garbage", and "/areatrack is worthless", etc. I feel like I've stepped out of the Ranger forums and somehow been magically transported to the CH forums.

Guys, the Ranger boards have always been characterized by intelligent, mature and thoughtful posts. These new changes haven't even been out for 12 hours and people are already complaining. We need to stop complaining and work together to figure out what is broken and let help the Devs to fix it. I know, I know - none of us paid to be Beta testers, but we've all made a committment to being Rangers and we all care enough to come and post here, many of us rather frequently, so we're already more motivated than the hundreds and thousands of other players who share our profession.

I am proud to be a Master Ranger, and I am proud to say that some of the ideas that I have proposed have been added to the Scout/Ranger professions. I am also proud to say that many of the changes that occurred have directly resulted from ideas that either Mineras or myself passed on from these very boards - from all of us.

So, in that spirit - the spirit that got us all of these great changes - can we move forward and do our best to figure out what is broken and report it in the same mature, intelligent manner that is befitting our elite status?

I know we can, because we've done it before.

I know I'm not Mineras, and I'm not the Ranger correspondent, so take what I say as merely another player. We'll get more done being positive and developing solutions to problems then simply acting like some other professions and just whining.

If you find a bug, or see something not working that was working before, help us all out and post it on the Bug thread that I've sticked to the top of the forum.

Thanks guys!

Wow. I think that's the first one star I've ever gotten for a post.

Thanks!

I threw up a 4 for you too Delta. I can't wait to get home and try these changes out, no matter how bad they may seem. I'm sure if they got beta-tested at all on testserver, they can't be as bad as it sounds.

im going to condence this topic from one i posted a bit ago....it was kinda obvious how it droped off the page, it wasnt well recieved... but oh well.. this is a repost from my comments on http://forums.station.sony.com/swg/board/message?board.id=ranger&message.id=10184

"good patch"

Tracking... ben using it all morning, working great for me. whats the matter guys, wanted to have thecritters handed to you on a plate with an apple in the mouth? morons.. Its the basic system, its new code, it will get tweeked, the interface will probly get tweeked. Its a great start.

wayfairing (camo/mask scent) theyjust overlayed an entire new system onto the game for rangers... hmm you think its not going to get tweeked? you bet your a** it will. As we have seen the rangers on test are few and far between. Live with everyone pounding mask scent keys, and now the new conceal key, the hard facts driven by mass people numbers will probly show this needs tweeking. Anyone that opens up thier mouth and cries like a baby has no foresite or scruples for that matter. It is a compleatly new base system that had to get to live to hard test what the biger picture #'s will be. And yes i say this noticing mask scent is acting a little buggy. conceal, i havnt messed with it too much.. im out collecting things from different planets to make some factory crates of the conceal kit. Then ill start testing it in ernist.

This aint your moma's atari game that she lets you out of your room to play every now and then... code takes tweeking, new code especialy. So how about instead of looking like baby's thatare crying becuse they just got theGI-joe with the kung fu grip, instead of the telituby they wanted, grow up and be productive instead of whining.

My compliments to the Ranger Dev guy for this revamp in progress. As this code comes into focus, im sure ill enjoy it more.

PS, those rangers on test, *shrug* dont listen to the guys complaining... allot of us understand its not a silver spoon syndrome over there. Anyone who complains about the test server rangers are just scum.Put up or shut up,personaly im preferingthe latter. Keep up the good work and keep plugging at it *bows*

I would say I agree with your post.. although many people look forward to new stuff in the game, and hope that it's gonna be awesome, and that it will save the day.. There are some things that needs fixing..

I've said it before, and I'll say it again. The new arising bug that reduces resource harvesting should be primary concern now, since this is one of the pillarstones of a ranger. If you're not quite up to date on it check out. http://forums.station.sony.com/swg/board/message?board.id=ranger&message.id=9975.

Yes, I do agree that most of the new abilities aren't much other than for fun right now, but let's try to figure out ways to make it useful, instead of saying "this bites, I want something that's gonna rock the world" we now have the possibility take a look at the basic of the skills, then we can make'em just like we want them. I for one think that /areatrack should not show every creature, but show where there's a pack or lair. This will be different for people and players though. it should also be possible to do like /areatrack animals, and as many have said an animation would be very fitting.

People don't like it when you rain on their parade

I agree with you, the ranger forum has been too quick to jump on the "everything sucks, its worthless" wagon. However, there are a number of good constructive posts being added to those threads you mentioned above.

I think the increased number of "this sux" posts are directly proportional to the recent influx of Novice Rangers after these changes were first released to the Test Center. The old stalwart rangers that have been here from the beginning seem to also be the ones who are thanking the devs for what they have been blessed with and looking for constructive ways to get other stuff, like harvesting, fixed or improved.

Thanks for a great post B.

- Bingo.

- Hopefully this will all calm down in a couple days, and the newcomers will join the fold, as it were.
