Now tell why i shouldnt whine?? Maskscent, i have wayfaring IV and giant gubburs and crazed durnis can detect me. Harvesting... i used to get about 20units of hide from cr.durnis now it's 9. Tracking... well havent tried that yet. Conceal seems very nice concept except I used to be almost self suffient now im going to need either to buy some resources or get some harvesters and survey skills for making them. And why we still get terrain negotiation as we will still run as fast as master scout... yay prone speed.

In time i'll adapt as most of us but i still dont have to like about it and forums is basicly only way to say to SOE that something is wrong. If coming changes won't change situation I'll drop ranger skills and be happy with master scout.

Agreed. There's whining (which the devs ignore anyway, they don't respect whiners) and then there's constructive feedback (which the devs respect because you are treating them with respect regarding a product they made for you to enjoy).

If you're not enjoying it, tell the devs, they want to know and they ask you to be patient as they try to resolve the issues. But don't whine like a 13 year old (unless you are 13, then I understand what with that puberty thing you're going through and all).

Just got ranger a few days ago, and been testing out the track and conceal for most of the day, i dont understand why everyone is complaining about the conceal kits, i think they are pretty cool...not paticularly fond of the resource requirements, but hey cant have your cake and eat them too. Are they supposed to work on NPCs? I was really suprised to get scouting exp from a borvos thug that practicely spawned on top of me, and even happier he didnt kill me. Speaking of scouting exp, if i pull out an aggro pet that hasnt been named while i have mask scent up i get exp, but if its named i dont.

As for Track...cant quite figure out what the range is on mine (first box) half the time i cant find the things listed on it, im just assuming that its not going to always be right with the skill so low.

Over all i have very little to complain about with the patch, i get scouting exp now when i mask scent (didnt before the patch) and survival exp is much easier to come by.

I don't know...I dont think its whining to say 'hmm nope..don't like this' and thats all I can say right now about conceal. I'm sure tweaking is coming and I assume they will make it less hellish to try to put these kits together, but from what I am playing ...I just dont care for it. Its not that I think ithe kits themselves don't make sense..but it IS the floral requirement. How am i supposed to get flora from Yavin when I cant survey? I suppose I could buy some..but that defeats the whole idea of the footloose ranger, out in the wilds, dependant only on his one finely tuned skills....I mean, thats what I loved about this job...the fact that I regularly logged on and just took off into the mountains somewhere and didnt have to deal with the l33+ d00dz spamming for ...whatever. Now I suppose I will regularly have to wander into town and buy a sack of twigs, because I cant forage for them in the wilds...or I could set up a harvester, which would mean I'd also have to set up a power gen, and that would mean I was a farmer, not a ranger. Does this make sense to any of you? get rid of the floral requirment and I'd say the conceal kits were a good way to make ranger players think about the environment they were preparing to run through, and prepare...both of which seem like good ideas anyway.

Perhaps there is a way I dont know of for Rangers to use the skills inherent in their profession to gather flora ...hardwood resources. Is there? anyone know? If not, then this one small requirement damns conceal in my opinion. But hey, thats just me.

Hey thats me... "conceal is garbage"

I guess my title could have been a little bit more constructive but it still would have involoved conceal and suckage.

"These new changes haven't even been out for 12 hours and people are already complaining."

I thought the same thing at first. I was very dissapointed by these posts complaining. Then I actually tried it out.

There should and will be a whole lot of whining. It's not that conceal is just broke. Its as if almost no testing went into it at all. I'm angry that the devs are using us as a test center. this isnt test center. they aren't doing there jobs. How long has mask scent been broken now? just as an example

Don't forget you pay for this.

Actually I should hold back on the maskscent thing.

It sucks right now but I don't know if thats because it's broken or because it's supposed to suck.

Delta I am one of the posters your refering too .

Let me start by saying that the post I made CLEARLY laid out every single problem I have found with areascan in an articulate way , and as polite as I could make it .That's as constructive as I'm willing to be with it .I have pointed out the problems I see with the new features , and in effect that's what your asking us to do -so I don't see the problem here .

MY problem is that I was very much anticipating these changes . I'm not going to apologize for anything I have posted , I'm certainly not going to say " sorry it wasn't rosy enough " . I don't candy coat the things I say , if I got something to say I'll say it clearly and bluntly .... and heres what I have to say .

The new skill Areascan is not good . I used it for several hours today . The adjectives I used to describe it are all valid and true ... it's slow , ineffective and inacurate and poorly designed . It does not help us do what I wanted it to do for my character . I will not go into detail about the things that aren't working ... I laid them all out very very clearly in my post .

What needs to be done to fix the skill ? IT should be obvious to anyone who reads these posts complaining about it's ineffectiveness ... make it effective . I'm not happy about paying to play an unfinished game , that's the bottom line . I would like to see so many aspects of this game cleaned up it would take pages to list them all . If not for the potential I see in this game .. and the dedication of the Dev's to listen to customer complaints and the work I see them doing on a daily basis then I would have breezed a long time ago . This is not about a slam on them , it's a plain and simple observation of the feature that they have designed . It's not good . When I played UO I just stopped posting anything after a few months just because it got us nowhere . So , I'm going to be very vocal and speak up when something is sucking .

Please clarify .. what exactly would you like us to do differently ? I don't think many people are going to agree to beingmore positive - when their gaming experience with thefeaturesare mostly negative . So , I'm confused . Maybe you can un-confuse me .

Thanks and peace

I agree. I was suprised to with... WHINING? Rangers? Disappointed. We GET a HUGE update, the changes we want, and we KNOW its going to be buggy and those who dont just whine again. You do realize the Devs listened and really added a lot of things to our profession... and there's bugs, something isnt working right... welcome to real life! Obviously its not going to be Happy Days after such an update. Appreciate whats happened, be happy, expect FIXES! Dont complain jeez you can beg for these changes then right away throw it back in tears and hate.

Erisk .. I don't understand your attitude .

Are you asking us to be happy with changes that are clunky , ineffective and poorly designed ? I'm as happy as anyone else that changes are being made .. I'm dissapointed that the changes are more bad than good . So it's not whining or complaining , it's a simple statement . Pointing out what is not working , what works but not well .... remember it's these discussions and all of us " whiners " that got us these changes in the first place .

If we had all been phony " happy " with Ranger before these changes do you think we would have gotten them ? If we shut up and say oh boy ! Changes ! Thanks ! and then don't point out that they are not good ... what do you think will happen ?? They stay in game in a broken state .

I say ... whine on ... complain ... make some noise . If anyone out there is feeling dissapointed BRING IT ON . Lay it out clearly and articulately .. what's not working for you . And let's keep these changes flowing into the game

Peace all

Sadly some "L3375" drifted into Ranger when they heard of the changes. Maybe now they will leave. I'm not leaving
