Is it just me or do creatures like picking us Rangers out of a group? Scenario: In a large group, creature pets (of other players) tanking, everybody in group shooting at the same creature (so everybody is in combat mode, no mask scent or conceal in effect), a new creaturespawnsand beelines right to me (and since I'm also a rifleman it one hit incapps and then DB's me). Ok so I expect it to happen once in a while, but it seems to happen quite a lot. Like almost everytime. Creatures seem to ignore the rest of the group and come for me specifically.

I remember this was discussed before but I can't recall if NRaas brought it up to the devs and/or if we got an answer to it. Quite the frustrating situation...

I am SOOOOO glad that someone finally believes me! I've been complaining about the same thing, and everyone is beginning to think I'm paranoid!

This has been brought up before, and I do not disbelieve you at all...But....

Tonite, hunting grondas... two lairs side by side, one mission mine, one mission my partners. She taps lair, and out comes a baby, right at her. We both fire, it goes for her, it dies. Adult spawns, same deal, goes at the rifle, not the pistol. We both had pets on guard; she was armored, I was not; I am a Ranger, she is a Commando. I think there is something about the person doing the most damage that causes the beasties to charge them. We did this for both lairs, she kept getting charged, with her rifle or flame thrower, meanwhile I am bleeding them silly with my FW.

I can honestly say, as I use pistols only, I do not get singled out much. I have been, don't get me wrong, but seems like sometimes I get left alone and the rifles get munched on.

We need to get two Rangers to test this, rifle and pistol. See who gets to be lunch.

I don't use the rescue command, which is why I figured it as such.

I have a theory!!!!

Most of the time, I have seen creatures agro to person/pet doing the most damage to them. Well, all ranged Ranger players have a creature-to-hit bonus above the other folks in their group. So wouldn't it make sense for them to agro to a Ranger since we would know how to cause them the most pain?

Whatcha think?

Well I posted the same question on the Rifleman forum, with a link to this thread, and multiple Rifleman came back with the information I was looking for. The spawns do aggro the attacker putting out more damage, which is why they ignore pistoleers and go after the rifleman (which still doesn't make sense as some pistols put out way moredps right now than any rifle can). It also doesn't explain why they don't go after the BH's or Commando's. Maybe they also consider who they can hit the hardest too...Rifleman have a +2.5x damage modifier against melee hits...I dunno, but it seems quite unfair at the moment. I think I'll bring this up with the Rifleman correspondent...

NOOOOOOO, let the rifles get bitten, eaten and stomped into Ranger paste. I am using my pistol to extreme advantage, along with my pet (who I will lose soon, sniff sniff) and letting the Rifle toters get the wounds I deserve. Or should be getting, dunno if deserve is the right word.

Anyhow, did some more research... Beasts like rifles better than pistols. They really like the big weapons too, like flame throwers and LLCs. Unless you special move them first, they tend to leave the pistols alone and go after them other guys.

So, have at it all you monster weapon toters, T21s proudly in hand... and as the Rancor smears you into the landscape remember, I made him bleed and will get a load of xp when he drops, and then get more xp healing your sorry self when you get back to the battle.

Until then, pistols rule, sorta kinda, not really, but I can pretend

I wonder if the Ranger "to hit" bonus is being taken into account by the creatures for determining aggro? Combat-wise that seems to be the only differance between us and any other class fighting critters.

I have a theory.... maybe its because

!!!YOU MAKE TENTS OUT OF THEIR FAMILY!!!

How would you like it if some guy snuck up on your uncle (the normal one, not the creepy one), killed him, then used his body to make a sleeping bag?

I'd be pretty pissed...

and Rangers wonder why creatures aggro them more often... HAH!
