Perhaps the solution is as simple as getting rid of those pesky ranged weapons.

When something agro's me, it dies. If there's two of them, they both die.

Being a tank means never having to say "Oh no, here it comes."

I wonder if the Ranger "to hit" bonus is being taken into account by the creatures for determining aggro? Combat-wise that seems to be the only differance between us and any other class fighting critters.

yep i belive your right our creature to hit bonus is probably why we are targeted so so often ... especially when using specials as i wouldnt doubt we are getting a stacked bonus...

causing the creature to say crap that guys is a pain i need to get rid of him ....

you have to understand, that with the amount of time we have spent in the wild as rangers, camping, harvesting meat etc. it has marinated our own flesh with succulent flavours of other meats from all the skinning of hide and meat. Our flesh is also tender and well fibred from the foraged food we eat from natures soil and the constant rubbing of local foilage into the skin which may also produce a slight woody aroma.

Part of this theory, the most damage part, just suffered a defeat.

Wandering thorough the weeds looking around for stuff. Group of 5, various and sundry professions, I was the only Ranger. The other 4 shoot at a humbaba. I am on auto, following, taking a bio break. Next thing I know, I am incapped. I don't think I engaged, shouldn't have on a yellow. So like, wha happened?? Was it my breath? Stupid babas.

I gotta start believing in the tent theory.

Anyhow, I got back up, and proceeded to lay waste to anything with humbaba breath, to include a few suspicious looking durnis and a couple of crimson razor cats who asked to be shot.

Don't make Rangers mad, we harvest the grid square when we are not happy.

I have built quite a reputation for myself by being the first oneincapped (our Squad Leader tries to beat me to it, but I think I have been winning more recently)on our guild hunts. Pretty cool that the creatures pick me out of 10-15 PCs and an additional 10-15 pets (it seems like half our guild are creature handlers now, but I am sure that will change). But we have a Doc with revives, so BRING EM ON!!! One thing I have noticed is, if you hide behind a a buddy who is shooting the same mob, the mob will switch aggro. I know this sounds bad, but I do this so my medic can heal me, then he moves behind me so I can pick up the aggro again. Kind of a modified /rescue. So, if you don't want to be aggroed in a group, hide behindyour nearest buddy.

I haven't noticed this either, but like O'Reilly I'm melee, so I'm usually tanking anyway. Honestly I'm surprised there aren't more melee rangers, since many rangers tend to hunt alone and are very vulnerable to social creatures. With the melee defense I have as a 2222 TKA I can stand my ground for some time against almost anything (cept the biggees like Krayts, Kimos, Witches, etc.), and with the TKA meditation line can cure poison and disease, and will evenutally be able to heal all my own wounds, which is handy when you ar 10K from the nearest outpost. Has been a great combo with Ranger so far, and I don't care if I get aggro'd....that's what I'm there for! The only bummer is that the creature to-hit bonus doesn't apply to melee...but that should be fixed too.

I can't wait for the creature-to-hit bonus to apply to melee. I am with you Gorgoth...Ranger TKA rules!
