So it seems that one of the new species has leaked and it will be Ithorians. I guess we'll hear it officially by the end of the week, but a lot of gamesites are posting screens of them in the character customisation screen and they don't look fake:
http://www.gamespot.com/pc/rpg/starwarsgalaxiesjumptolightspeed/screens.html?page=34

Also there's this link someone posted which caught my eye:
http://www.lucasarts.com/games/swgalaxies_lightspeed/ithorians.html

Seems like they'd be an excellent species for a ranger with their affinity(sp?) towards nature. I for one would consider re-rolling a ranger character to play one of these guys, expecially if they add sounds to simulate their speech. What do you guys think?

You know i thought the first was photoshopped using an NPC trainer. But that second link is the winner.

From the second link

=======================================

Since the dawn of their civilization, the quiet Ithorians have worshipped the "Mother Jungle," and have lived in complete harmony with their surroundings. For every vegetable plucked from the ground, the wise Ithorian plants two replacements

=======================================

Sure sounds like a ranger race doesnt it?

Oh yeah and this looks a little authentic

Also from the second link. Good find

I think they could be good ranger, and have the mask scent/camo bonuses. But I would stick with my Bothan, that also has those bonuses. I chose bothan because I always like them in the books, and because of the bonuses.

It already is official

Click Here.

As far as being rangers, I see them being more of the Doctor type with bonuses towards healing, medical crafting, and buffing.. I think it will be a cool species if that's the case.

Besides, they're pacifists, so I don't really see them having bonuses to creature hunting or any ranger skills.

I learned from another post that one of the most famous Ithorians was a scout so . . .

I would not think the Ithorians run around killing critters.

From Lucasarts Page:

The gentle, optimistic Ithorians prefer work in agricultural, artistic, diplomatic, mercantile or space-faring fields. A select number choose to take on the mantle of ecological priests, keeping the "Mother Jungle" safe from danger.

I dont personally see these as 'effective' rangers. More as like someone already said, BE's, CH's and perhaps more specifically ("space-faring fields") shipwrite.

What could be a more fitting and 'fair' time to introduce a new race to the existing game? When lots of people will be changing professions and perhaps heading the shipwrite route. New players would be able to make them right away, existing players wouldn't be at too much of a disadvantage starting the character again because they wouldnt have a starship business up and running.

Just a though but i wouldnt exactly see them as hunters. If they are then my alt will be made a hammerhead/ranger after i unlock him but otherwise im human all the way.

They have a very distinctive body plan...I wonder if they'll get armor and clothing restrictions. How can you put a helmet on that head?

Hmm...it has potential.
