Thread: Can I even consider dropping novice medic?

Hi guys (and gals!).

Well im getting to that crossroads in my template now, and it's decision time.

My dream combo was Master Rifleman, Master Ranger. I absolutely love the Ranger, and Im something like 4240 in Ranger at the moment, very close to Master Rifleman.

However, currently I have novice medic so I can use Stim B's and heal whilst adventuring.

Well, Master Rifleman, 4004 Marksman, Master Scout and Master Ranger is all my skill points and I am very wary of dropping novice medic so do I:

a) Master Rifles, 4004 Marksman, Master Scout, Master Ranger

or:

b) Master Rifles, 4004 Marksman, Master Scout, 4440 Ranger, Novice Medic.

Can anyone out there who is either of these templates give me their opinion; at the moment I am tending towards b) as I just am dubious as to how not having any med skills is possible.

Thanks in advance all.

Kope (using doc buffs all the time) does not have novice medic, I dropped it after a while when I realised that this button for the selfheal macro wasn't used a single time after I created it and pushed the button to test it .

You wil get much more use out of Novice Medic than you will out of Master Ranger. You could possbily drop the Ranged Combat line of Marksman in favor of a Master RIfleman, Master Ranger, Novice Medic +1 template. Honestly, the RAnger support will serve you mcuh better than the Master will will.

i would go with

Marksman 0031, master ranger, master rifleman, novice medic

ThoughI never saw used the ranged support tree other than 0003 (now 0001) i just don't see it being that useful

I'm currently carbineer 1201 ranger 3444 novice medic novice entertainer artisan 0002.

and am praying that the new survey droids wil allow me to get rid of the survey tree. right now i'm the surveyor for 3 other people, and have to choose survey or medic when the time comes for me. Please not its not a factor about loosing entertainer. with hologrinders in coronette i run threw it once a week to fix BF.

I just can't bring myself to drop novice medic either. I've dropped a bunch of CH, dropped a bunch of ranger, but novice medic stays. I don't get buffed that often, so being able to heal 400+ damage on myself every 30sec or so effectively makes my HAM much much bigger than it is, which is invaluable

I'm currently working towards my Master in Rifles. I'm going Master Ranger / Rifle. My template will look like this MR / MRM, Markswoman 4-0-0-0, Novice medic. I'm not really sure but i think you retain so support to the ranged weapons when you do rifle, if I'm wrong then I think I'll havesome skill pts left over to work back up that tree. I'm definitly going to keep my medic though.

My vote goes to Master Ranger/Master Rifleman/Novice Medic/Marksman4001.

I usually hunt with only mind/focus/willpower buffs from brandy and canapes. I don't like cities -check that, I hate cities - and I like interplanetary travel even less, so I felt I needed to be as self-sufficient as possible.

If buffs are readily available, then you can skip novice medic, but as a Master Rifleman, I have not missed any of the Ranged Support skills.

hmmm yes; I use a T21 and a DXR-6b that guzzle HAM

I always have Vasarian on me, and normally a few other bits and bobs like Veghash, Canapes and the drink that boosts action.

The way I saw it, if I drop Novice Medic, then sure sometimes I can get a buff but I cant rely on it, so I was considering turning into a drug addict and guzzling Neutron Pixies.

Then, apart from a 3ish minute downer, I can cover and regen my HAM costs and take an initial blow if I need time to run.

gah decisions decisions....

DROP FREAKING RANGED BEFORE YOU DROP MEDIC, ARE YOU DAFT MAN?

Ranged is useless unless you count warning shot. A total waste of points.

Medic means I heal me, I stay out longer, I stay not incapped longer, and when incapped I get up and heal my sorry ass. Ranged means.... ummmmm..... a waste of one skill tree worth of points.

Been there, done that, dropped ranged quick quick quick and have never ever never dropped medic.

You can max rifle, ranger, scout, have novice medic, riflemaxed in novice marksmanand 4 whole skill points left over... get a medical skill, like first aid. Trust me on this, you will not regret dropping ranged, the skills in master rifleman more than make up for it.

wow yes

So:

Master Scout

Master Ranger

Master Rifleman

4000 Marksman

Novice Medic

and a few points left over?

Haven't got a way of counting the points out of game, but if that works then yes, I will definitely do that.

heh, i gotta agree with almost everyone here on keeping novice medic and losing ranged support.. you can either pick up /aim or any of the 1st tier medic skills, to boot...

oh, the best part i've found about having something like novice medic... 15 skill points, should you ever need them... lets say you really want to survey out something, costs you 100 creds to drop medic and switch to artisan for just a few hours, and 100 creds to get back the medic...
