Thread: Please welcome the new class into SWG... the Rogue
If you say so bud.
I call it Ranger and fits perfectly into the idea of a recon unit.

Here are some other abilities from a RPG that it reminds me of:
"...class skills are Climb, Craft, Demolitions, Disable Device, Gather Information, Hide, Move Silently, Spot..."
Except that RPG isn't DnD.. it's Star Wars... and it's describing the Antarian Ranger prestige class.
They sound similar, as well. I guess it's all in how you look at it. I still see it as a star wars style Ranger though.
Yep and we will be the only ones who can dule weild weapons ![]()
Bah on you negitave boy.

spy? yes. thief NO! this is starting to sound like a BETTER version of smugglar than smugglar accually is. ROUGE is already a title IG. IT BELONGS TO SMUGGLAR. why are they messing with this class to turn it to a rouge?

Rouge eh? is this a darker side of the hawtpants conspiracy? Is smuggler in fact some sort of transvestite profession now where you can master the use of eyeshadow?
Gah! This creeps me out everytime! I get a mental image of people fully decked out in wilderness camo but with just a touch of makeup to accentuate their cheekbones...
Creeped. Out.
I'm away from my computer for a week, and I come back to this. First, let me say WOW (the exclamation denoting excitement, not the competing online game). Second, holy crap. And let me conclude by saying Sweet Kali Ma.
I have yet to slog through the pages and pages of info/opinions, but what I've read so far sounds really cool. I like thieves and rogues, and I have no problem with this direction if it's executed well.
To all the profs who have already started whining (I'm lookin' at you, force punks), bugger off. We're finally getting a role in the GCW, and I for one am pretty stoked about it.
I guess I've got some heavy forum reading ahead of me. You guys appear to have had a busy-ass week. Ranja 4 life, yo.

Master Ranger
Antarian Rangers
a para-military group based on several planets, the Antarian Rangers were formed by Marus Timpel and Kaskutal on Antar 4, some 600 years before the Battle of Yavin. The mission of the Antarian Rangers was simply to assist and aid the Jedi Knights in any way possible, although they were most often employed as front-line troops in battlezones. They were trained to be masters of any environment, in order to meet the various challenges assigned to them. The Jedi Council refused to comment on their position toward the Antarian Rangers, although they allowed it to continute to grow and expand over the years. Many individual Jedi valued their assistance and dedication, especially in situations where military force was needed. In the coming centuries, as the Jedi Order became more conservative and insular, they began to turn away from the use of separate organizations like the Antarian Rangers. This meant that the amount of work available to the Rangers began to diminish, and the organization was forced to drastically reduce its manpower. During the Clone Wars, the Antarian Rangers were able to briefly expand their efforts in support of the Jedi involvement in the war. Unfortunately, whole groups of Antarian Rangers were killed off, and many of the survivors scattered and went underground. Those that remained loyal to the Jedi found themselves hunted down as part of Emperor Palpatine's Jedi Purge, further reducing the organization's size and scope. Only a few groups managed to survive the Galactic Civil War, but they were openly sought out by Jedi Master Luke Skywalker. In the years following the Battle of Endor, the organization grew slowly, but proved to be invaluable during the formation and protection of the Great River during the Yuuzhan Vong invasion of the galaxy
they were SF, and as in real life SF will hide, steal, kill and fight as a black op covert group.
if you are going to call the SW rangers rogue's, then why not the army rangers, green brets, the yagers of euroup, the queens royle marines, and every black op, spc op group in the worlds thieves and rogues. even the true face and history of the ninja has been twisted over the years by lie's and romore. they to in there day were the SF of there time befor history and the ruling class turned aginst them. ( kind of like the jedi to the rangers. )lets look at this for what it is people, the dev's are trying to set things straight and put it where it should have been to begen with. i for one am glad.

If they actually did that you have no idea the deafening roar you'd hear out of pistoleers. I bet they could outdo the Jedi regarding that topic. Not a slam on them, I think pistoleers should get it if anyone. But if both get it, then I don't see the issue.

I have a neat idea....how about putting all the flames and complaints about the new changes in the thread I already started for that specific purpose. No sense cluttering up the good and positive idea's and thoughts in this forum now, when it can all be located for one stop shopping just for you.
It will be absolutely awesomne if the devs follow the plan and make Ranger a combat class. If all they do is give us stealth and new traps and mines thats pretty limited. We need to have higher accuracy and speed then currently and higher Melee and ranged defense then currently. We also need master certed weapons like all the other combat professions.
Yes the concept of a paramilitary ranger is pretty awesome especially if you like GCW content. But the dev's have to be thorough when they release this new profession. We can not expect to see another CU rough draft released to the players and then constant tweaking. If they are gonna revamp Ranger into a combat profession then revamp it correctly. DO NOT cut us short on this make it a balanced but effective temp. I dont want to just be a SPY THIEF OR ROUGE I want to be a Ranger a term that manyof us know as theelite small RAPID REACTION FORCE as it is.

The real fear should be this: there is a history in this game of wonderful concepts and ideas that players were told were going to happen, only to have a last-minute bait-and-switch which made nobody happy....
Be hopeful...but be mindful. Or to put it another way, Trust through Verification.
