Thread: Oh trap...

Decided to go level trapping on my WH toon this morning.... headed to Mos Espa, picked up a couple of CL30 missions off the term behind the cloner, started wandering back towards the missions and my house to drop off some gear.

Targetted a mountain dewback, cl21. Attempted to throw a trap "This trap can only affect creatures"

Tried some other mountain dewback, "This trap can only affect creatures"...
CL2 rill? "This trap can only affect creatures"
CL10 cu-pa? "This trap can only affect creatures"

Every creature I have encountered SW of Mos Espa is returning "This trap can only affect creatures".

Ok ok, maybe a shif in animal bone is going in or something, but UGH.

especially as I'd just spent 15 minutes sampling enough metal to make darts, lol.

When that happens, I examine the creature. Most of the time, if I can't trap them, and I can't harvest them, I will see a 0-0 damage and 0 to hit. Yes, even after the breaking and fixing of what little information we could still see.

I had this problem on test center a few days ago as well. Happened with random spawn lvl 4 night spiders and flewts just outside of Theed.

Didn't run into the problem today on WH with lvl 78 - 82 missions. Were any of the creatures mission generated or all random spawns?

I had it happen on three successive kaadu missions last night on Naritus. The fourth mission wnt fine, and it hasn't happened since. Same thing you experienced-- that irritating message when attempting to toss a trap, and no harvest.

This is happening with mobs spawning inside the no-build-zone around NPC citys.

A few metres outside the NBZ everything is cool. Step back in and it's "...can only effect creatures".

Goofy.

I think this bug is more of a time period thing. Sometimes it will have gone away by the time you reach the next lair, other times it'll last for an hour ( by which time I get frustrated and log ). This makes me think that it's YOU who are bugged, and not the creatures around you. I'm not sure what the 0-0 damage and 0 to hit could mean, maybe it's linked to creature knowledge? However, it would be interesting to find out if other people can trap/harvest the same creatures.

I am assuming this is regional and not planet or server wide?

I've had this on Naboo, Corellia, Tatooine, and Dantooine.

You guys need to examine their stats. When this happens, the stats I see are 0-0 damage and 0 to hit. If you could please confirm this it would bring a more specific aspect of the bug to light.

Yup, we got that. And yup, they were unharvestable, etc. Critter affected this time were all wild spawns, and maybe 500m away they were totally fine.

It was included in my bugreps.

As for it being a 'regional' thing, I'm now wondering if I was on a server boundary. The stretch of desert out to my house does cross one, as we used to get lots of fun with items vanishing in inventories, etc, 'back in the day'.

THat is indeed a posibilty, but I was thinking that if it is regional, it might be due to a bad server cluster (they us multiple 'servers' that make up each planet, right?). As I typed this I realized this would not account for the problem occurring on diffent servers (that would be a heck of a coincidence).

I've only ever seen it in side a No Build Zone. The problem will effect all creatures in the area, not just one or two or one kind. Not the whole NBZ mind you, but that part.

Twice I've been in the area where this is happening and ALL the creatures disappeared, and where instantly replaced with a new set. I stress instant, bang! No change in ping, no rubber banding, just a total respawn of the area, lairs and all. The new ones worked fine.
