The results of countless hours of powersitting: The Field Base (http://home.earthlink.net/~eddytaylor/images/sucess.jpg). I didn't macro at all, so this is a huge victory for me. It may not sound hard to sit there for all that time (i occasionally had help from passersby) but it is! Just keep at it my Ranger brothers, and you, too, shall be rewarded

Now, honestly, if I ever expect to complete the other 140k xp I need to get to Frontiering IV.. I'm gonna have to macro. It's really not feasable any other way, unless you regularly group and get to lay camps with a large number of people. But even if I do macro camp the rest of the way up the tree, I'll still have the pleasure of knowing that I made it halfway there through my own hard work.

Peace,

Bern

oh and do those light poles actually emit light at night like the improved camp does? I hate having torches not give any light

Unfortunatly, no - they don't. They 'glow', but do not emit light - the only light you get is still from the fire.

10k for me before I crank out my first Field Base. I cringe at getting to Hi-Tech field base. But I'm sure it'll be worth it!

Can anyone confirm that the Base Camp does not expire until you logout? That would make it so much better then the other camps. Also what are the components required to create a base camp?

I would also like to hear the response to VizRhoth's question. The group I have ventured out with on occassion goes to Dantooine a lot now and it would be great to set up a field base and keep it there as long as possible to have a base of ops.

Does it dissappear if you engage in combat? Tell us please. I just got Frontiering 1 and am 10k into 2, so I have a while to wait.

I have had field bases for about a week now and I can tell you a few things. There are still a few bugs that are indicative of all camps. Entertainers still cant reduce Battle Fatigue in them. The dont repel aggressive creatures. The do have a .95 heal rate. Much better than the lower camps. I have been logged out for about five minutes, one time. WhenI returned, the camp was still there. It will become 'abandoned' if you get into combat. The duration is of 50 minutes and 30 seconds. The maximum XP on the camp is 1200. The resource requirement is 20 metal, 15 metal and 30 polymer. When making one you get about 130 Crafting XP's. Otherwise useless, unless you are getting tired of one profession and want to change to some artisan thing. Just on a lark ( I was bored and had alot of resources to kill) I made field bases. One right after the other, using three general crafting kits to avoid the hopper wait. I was able to get to level 4 in one of the artisan skill tries in just under 38 minutes....

Stand by your principles friend! I was able to achieve master Ranger without using a single macro. You can do it!
