Global Ranger Market Price Guide:

The market idea was posted earlier but was specific fora certain server. This is an expansion on that idea related to all servers.

Here is the first was we could set prices:

Meats: (based on OQ/PE)

<1000 total = <10cr/per (eg <500 OQ and <500 PE)

1001-1200 = <15cr/per (eg <600 OQ and <600 PE)

1201-1400 = <20cr/per(eg <700 OQ and <700 PE)

1401-1600 = <30cr/per(eg <800 OQ and <800 PE)

1601-1800 = <40cr/per (eg <900 OQ and <900 PE)

1801-1900 = <50cr/per (eg <950 OQ and <950 PE)

1900> = >50cr/per(eg Anything above 1900 total)

Hides: (based on OQ/SR/MAL/UT)

<2000 total = <10cr/per (eg All stats <500)

2001-2400 = <15cr/per (eg All stats <600)

2401-2800 = <20cr/per (eg All stats <700)

2801-3200 = <30cr/per (eg All stats <800)

3200-3600 = <40cr/per(eg All stats <900)

3601-3800 = <45cr/per (eg All stats <925)

3801-3900 = <50cr/per (eg All stats <950)

3900> = >50cr/per (eg All stats over 950)

Bone (same as above)

An alternative method would be to use a complicated forumal to work out the True stat value of a resource. Below is a short example using hide of a possible way of calculating the TRUE value:

50% of OQ figure

Add, 25% of SR figure

Add, 15% of MAL Figure

Add, 10% UT figure

Equal the TRUE Value.

Once the true value has been determined, it can be compared to a listed benchmark for price guidance. This list may fluctuate ever so often but will on the most part be fixed.

The main problem new sellers encounter when they first decide to sell their resources is what to sell at. This would allow them to get guidance aswel as give us a larger cut of overall revenues.

Can anyone give me their thoughts on such methods of increasing our revenues and making us more profitable? Also do you think a web-site to host the benchmarks would be wise, or simply list them on the forums? Maybe we could geta link post fixed in the ranger and scout forums.

If I sold my hides for that much I would never make any money...
I would be a even more poor than I am now.

sounds good! but theres only one problem!

Everybody has to start using theses prices or it wont b possible.

For the moment I sell meat for 20c / unit And I wont go any lower than that. I'd rather save it than sell it for 5-10c

The hide values were only a suggestion on the METHOD of calculating our market prices, i personally prefer the second method but just wanting to know what you guys think of these two METHODS.

The prices can and would definatly change

They were only figures off the top of my head to fill the spaces to give an example. Once we select a suitable method it would be a case of deciding on the prices

If Rangers are having credit issues, go run missions.

You may get lucky and find some fool,I stress fool, who will pay what you are asking for material. But I gotta tell ya, I will undercut you and sell all my stuff and laff all the way to the bank. Monopolies suck, price fixing sucks, and I am not playing that game.

I sell my stuff for what I feel is a fair price. Granted I am paying insane prices for weapons, but that and shuttle tickets is all that I pay for. Oh yeah, tips too... to dancers and musicians, I heal myself. The prices vary, often I will give a noob free stuff just to help him/her get started. Its only hides and meat, not like I am paying to go harvest the stuff. I harvest mainly on missions, both to and from and during, so I get paid to harvest, more or less.

Now, someone asks me for a specialty item, as in Endorian wool, they pay for it. Or a stimmer wants a load of Herbie - like 10k, np...they pay for it. But cut the lower ranked people a break and sell stuff on the bazaars for lower prices. Not in great quantities, but enough to get em going.

Nope, not a socialist, or a communist... just remembering what life was like as a noob, when 10 hides were a big deal.

All I can say is that I have never sold any of my hides, bone and meat for those kind of prices. The most I sold was 2k+ of wooly for 7cpu. The prices your are suggesting seem extremely high

I wasn't suggesting theose prices, they were only numbers used to give an example of how it COULD work.

People in my server wont pay 5 creds/per unit for 1.5k Wooly and leathery hide over 950 OQ cant remember other stats. So if I ask for anything over 5 Ill die of hunger. Good thing im a TKA and I dont have to buy many weapons.

Much as I'd like to make a bunch of money selling resources, I have to think about what this would do to pricing of the end product. People then have to make items with these resources, and those items must be priced to reflect the change in cost. If we all raise prices to this level, we will have to expec to see medicines, clothing, furniture, and whatever else uses them to similarly rise. I am not sure I want that to happen.

Personally, I don't support price fixing either. However, I do very much appreciate guidelines and something to refer back to I'vecompiled information from Delta's thread in the Scout forums (and relinked here a few times) and my own knowledge of schematics to make a sort of list for myself.

I prefer your second method. My pricing is very much determined by supply and demand. Some particular hides (endorian wooly, for example) will go for much higher rates regardless of the individual hide's stats. Naturally, that is taken into consideration -- two varieties of wooly hide with the same stats might go for drastically different prices simply because of where one is from.

Server prices vary greatly, so some people will find these prices outrageous (I certainly wouldn't sell anything for those rates), but they might seem on-target to some. I'm not trying to sound too discouraging Owen-Lars, but I'm afraid a list like this is best kept server-specific.

I hate to feel like I left money on the table when dealing in business. However I believe we need to know our customers! Be the business partner to your customers not the salesman. Understand if this is a new craftsman that they can't afford more than 3cpu then give them a break. Develop the business relationship and help them become the Partner you want. Once they get up there in skill and you treated them right it will come back 10 fold.

It doesn't always work but when it does the investment pays off. Knowing your customer is the key. If you just want to sit at the starport and /shout your sales will then ask what the market will bear.

Look... the easiest way to get maximum $ from the services you provide as a Ranger is through a well established reputation. If everyone knows that you always provide very good quality items, you will probably set up a rapport with artisans who in turn won't mind paying a fair, but increased price over other vendors if they know that your product is top-of-the-line. Get your product top quality, then advertise it. If you want to really make a profit, than this is the best way to go.
