Thread: Lowca Rangers: An Idea to Form Antarian Collective
There have been a number of rangers that I have sent /tells to and the biggest roadblock is the fact that many of us are already in a PA. I am in one as well.
However, that should not stop us from getting together, planning big game hunts, setting up a vendor to place the highest quality resources in Lowca. One of the weaknesses in the Ranger profession is the fact that many of us are poor.
We hunt, harvest and sell on the bazaar.
Oppma and I are of the same mind to make this a collective...a loose association with minimal PA ties.
I think that from the get go, this collective should first and foremost put Rangers first. I play about 10 to 20 hours a week and am very committed to being a ranger.
please respond and post
or send me a /tell (draknev)
thanks
please contact myself or Oppma when you see us ingame....maybe we can get some more people in on this.
send myself or Oppma a tell and we can start hashing out all the ugly details....
so far only 4 people.
I am interested. Specially in the Vendor idea as well as coordinated resource and big game hunts.
It seems you have addressed the hurdle of PA affiliation.
Any ideas on how to handle the challenge of GCW faction/overt/covert issues.

Firstly:
The Antarian Rangers were dedicated to support the jedi...there are some great liks on the stickied Antarian post, so there is where most of my information comes from....with that in mind, I would imagine that Antarian Rangers would only include (interest...attract) those rangers with rebel sympathies. All species being equal, I would also imagine that there were a few Antarian Rangers who succumed to the desires and greeds of the empire. Without getting into a philisophical debate, I would imagine that only rebs would even want to join us.
However, my goal is to benefit the ranger community on Lowca as a whole. I cant count the times where Ive wondered what the hot resource is for the day and where do i have to go to get it.
On the general ranger code, I have met many overt Imperial Rangers who have not db'd me and I have never db'd another ranger. I would not hesitate to db another ranger who would do the same for me. But I will not throw the first punch.
This brings to mind the Red/ White/ Black Robed Mages of the stories in Dragonlance, they had a code that while on common ground, no brother should use magic to harm another brother, however out in the world you're fair game. If an imperial ranger who is in the PA db's you in fair and open combat....then tell him or her good shot. Internal drama should be avoided, and judging by our forums, we tend to do that well anyway. Common ground should only be on big game hunts, gatherings (both formal and informal) and on the site where we put the main hall. (My suggestion is Corellia) for centrality and access. That way both Imp, Reb and Neutral can reap the benefits of being associated with our collective. I will do what I can to facilitate this co-op, but I cannot be a PA leader, that should be in the hands of someone else.
My ideas initially are
1. to be open to anyone who carries the title Ranger (dabblers are always welcome), we will train, assist anyone interested in the ranger profession
2. We should have a central depository where resources are kept, sold, distributed and used. Eventually we should work up a good reputation to the business community.
3. All sales are open to the public at an equitable price that wont gouge the hard working community.
4. If those of us who are not in the official PA, we have items that we wear that will identify us as Antarian Ranger (neclace, ring, bracelet or something)
5. We plan, organize, and execute big game hunts.
6. We plan, organize and execute internal ranger competitions... (toughest critter soloed with a witness, scavenger hunt, things like that)
7. If the overwhelming majority of us are rebel, we should go on hit and fade raids and cause mayhem with the imperial ranks
8. There will be a central place for anyone interested in buying resources to inquire.
9. For those who fill an order, there should be a percent that goes back into the PA for maintenance and cool stuff for all of us.
10. Have Fun (thats why we play)
Some of these ideas I have blatantly stole...why? Because they were **edit** good ideas.
I have the names of those interested so far and I will be sending an ingame email later on this week..(if i can find some time)
If you see me ingame, send me a tell and I will update you with whats new..and hopefully get this started....
Thanks
Draknev, as always, has great stuff. I'm in full agreement with almost everything he has listed. I apologize for the delay in posting. I was watching my Chicago Cubs lose again and just got back to the gaming world yesterday.
A couple of things. I'm more in the line of "loosely knit organization" than official PA type of deal. I am guilded already as is Draknev and most others. I like the idea of a "collective" which would market our wares, but I'd like to see the Lowca Antarian Rangers stay true to the real Antarian Rangers which aided and assisted the Jedi.
Don't get me wrong, I'm all for the collective, I would just like to see the primary focus being on aiding the Jedi and dealing with the Empire.
Now, regarding factions and the GCW: I have no problem dueling. But with us it would be that, a duel, not a fight to the death. My only concern is my previous thought on aiding the Jedi. Antarian Rangers were, for all intensive purposes, Rebel. I don't wish to alienate ANY Ranger, but my feeling is strong regarding the GCW and the Jedi in particular (yes I want a FS slot badly lol).
So all that being said I'm open to opinion. I haven't got the time to lead an organization, but I'd be willing to be a second-in-command, or spokesperson of some sort. I'm good at that.
Looking for Jowabe and Dudemus to weigh in also. Dudemus trained me to Master and Jowabe, Draknev and I were making the trek to Master all at the same time. Junpai trained me in Wayfaring IV, and Rashwell trained me in Adv Trapping 3 and 4. Good to see you guys all stuck with it!
i would be very interested to hunt with fellow rangers, although you guys might consider me only a "dabbler" since my primary profession is something else. would you be open to my participation? :-)
Anyone who has ranger skills should be accepted. Primary, Secondary/ Tertiary....I dont discriminate.
Ive posted before that I have no problems with dabbling, I think that that is the strength of SWG. This way people can find their own niche and have fun
