Hey, as a Ranger, i've been basically living off of two contract payouts that expired about a week or so ago and now my funds are starting to dwindle. I'm having trouble finding 'work' so I'm wondering how do you other 'more experienced' Rangers earn good creds for your resource and how do you advertise your services when your latest contract is complete?
Lately, i've just been advertising my services while playing music in the Coronet cantina (i'm Entertainer0102) but i'm not getting many bites. I watch the galaxy trade boards but don't see anything but ppl selling actual goods, not services. I'm always keepinganeye on existing spawns using swgcreatures, but if I don't see anyone wanting the stuff, so I don't harvest it.
Any help, would be greatly appreciated.

I've encountered several folks while I was hunting and have been quite a bit of work from that. I have thought about posting to forums advertising my services, our guild has been leaderless since thanksgiving and he used to keep contracts for everyone to work toward, that not being available, while having sucked has gotten me to send more random people tells while out hunting and asking around, have found a number of outlets. Another thing that might work is when you find good harvests collect large stacks, you might want to confirm that it is a component for something that crafters make. I had an armorsmith email me the necessary ingredients for wook armor, being a wook, I am trying to make sure I collect as much of those ingredients as I can, for myself and other wooks when they are good. I have also tried to chat with other rangers and have found several crafting guilds needing steady suppliers.
Hope this helps

My first bit of advice... dump those "contracters". (assuming they're telling you to get a fixed amount of resources, like 50k, 100k or so). Find players who are willing to buy any amount you're able or willing to harvest. Docs and BEs are probably your best bet.
You mentioned watching the trade forums, which is probably the best way to find work. A close second is the RIN or ranger channel on your server.
Maybe there has been a run of low quality stuff for a while on your server (happens everywhere).. In that case you might have a hard time finding buyers, but you can still advertise your services.
Post to your galaxy trade forum and ask for Docs, BEs, Chefs and armorsmiths to add you to their list of hunters. Most good crafters send out a mailing list to inform their list of rangers/scouts and once you're on their list, they'll inform you as soon as a good shift comes to their attention.
If you're really hurting for work, get to know what resources are in demand and gather a huge amount. Then simply auction them on the trade forums.

Here on Kettemoor, I'm subscribed to a "resource list" put out by one of our larger resource vendors. He sends usemails of all the organics he is currently buying and the price he'll buy them for (even wih or better than the going average). He buys any quantity, and sends out updates every week or so listing new spawns or changing prices. Ask around on your server forums, there might be something similar. I used to do freelance gathering, but with his prices, and the fact that he will buy any amount, I've been hunting and selling exclusively to him since I joined the list.

I don't.
I have a person who buys meat, any quantity, any quality, for a fixed price. That pays the bills when there are no decent resource spawns. I go to Endor, run two missions, grab 1k or so of meat easily, 20k for the missions, 10k for the meat, thats 30k for 15 minutes work.
If there are spawns of good stuff, and I feel like getting it, I see who is buying at what prices. The trade forums is a good spot when there are good spawns.
I also run a lot of missions, both ground and space.

I tend to do the same as JB though i have a few buyers who ask me for certain ammounts when the quality is good, though now I'm considering charging for assists in space because the last few times I've been left to do the dirty work, making a mess of my ship, while the guy who's mission i'm helping is sitting in the back smug as anything.

I did not know we Rangers are merchants.
If the combat proff you have is quite high in level big game hunting on your galaxies trade forums is quite the way. If immediate gratification is what you seek, and your galaxy does not spilleth over with your ranger brethrend, it is more you seek out your work rather than vice versa. It takes on more of a nickle and dime role as you search high and low for anybody hiring any hunters for consistent employment. Good luck to you and good hunting!
