Thread: Ousted by a DE...
Rangers are still functional and I will stick around because I think that in the future, we will have some great things coming.
I think they have something against the professions that begin with the letter R
OH NOOOOOOO, i'm a Master Ranger / Rifleman combo
I don't know if we are completely loosing out with this next update though - better droids = better tanks, at least for those of us without CH skills. Also no more camps has an advantage, esp. when it comes to droids - if they still let us keep up to five in the datapad, then that means it will be that much easier to pull them out, etc...
I don't know how useful it is to think of changes as being profession specific -- yes they do enhance one profession specifically, but their benefits still have an impact on us -- for example, there was not very much ranger love in the last update either, but we did get chef foods to enhance our maskscent and harvesting capabilities, a camo enhancing ring as a theme park reward as well as a camo-enhancing backpack, better weapons, the return of the gorax (well - the rumored return of the gorax), and perhaps best of all, greater demand for our services from BEs and Chefs.

no offense, but when i reached master DE, I realized it was the dummest profession in the face of existance.
Yep it was that sad. I dropped itater giving it a week.
We rangerscan still track and ppl love the harvest and tracking krayts, pekos, etc
DE's are a seriously gimped profession, only useful for making a crafting droid, until now. CL10 droids, yeah whoopee, it's still gimped.

Well as a DE, I can tell you that the profession isn't all that broken per se, but it is useless. Probots were the major blow to the profession. People still buy them, but usually newbie characters who need a light tank up front. I can't give it up though. It took me 5 months to make Master DE, since I didn't grind it and took a few detours along the way. And as much as I want to drop the profession, I can't bring myself to it. I've invested so much and I get into my characters' roles. But I am weening myself away by slowly trading points in for Medic/Doctor. Someday.....

Acutalld DE's wherent broken from day 1 I remember when a probot could kill a Rancor then the devs found how over powered they where like 1 month in and nerfed the hell out of them untill they are now, as for the rest of the droids I cant remember if they where borken or not I just remembered the Probots.
I'm sort of afraid to post this here (I don't want another nerf), but I love my four 18k (that is 18k to purchase, not 18k ham) post-nerf probots. No, they don't do any damage at all, and no they don't have tons of ham, but they do have really, really good armor, which means that they can take a beating before they go down. This makes them really good tanks, esp. against more powerful social creatures. I'm not talking about krayts or rancors here - I mean bolls, faambas, sharnoffs, gurrecks, etc... While I can handle oneto three of these creatures by myselffouror more is a challenge.
But I can send a probot in, have it take the aggro, and then stand back and fan shot in relative safety. Again, the probot's purpose is not take inflict damage, but to absorb it, and my probots seem very, very good at this. My job is to do the shooting and the probot's job is to do the blocking.... Now I can see why people without advanced combat skills might think that probots suck -- if you can't do the damage, the probot certainly won't help you out. But as a master pistoleer, I can do a lot of damage relatively quickly if I can just keep creatures from hitting my action pool, which is always dangerously low due to the cost of my specials.
In addtion, I can also have up to five probots in my datapad at once, which means that when one probot gets chewed up (or is low on ham) I can store it and call another. And my probots regenerate their health really quicky when they are stored, so by the time I call the first one again, it is almost, if not entirely, healed.
And I always feel much more star-warsy when I use my probots -- they really got the look and feel of the probots right; I don't know, sending some bit cat or big bug into a fight just seems like every-other medieval-based mmorpg out there.
ok -- enough of my defense of probots haha
