I was just curious about them since I just got qualified to use them.It seems to me that with a good /maskscent they arent really necessary.Seeing that they require wooly hide to make and thats my livlihood, I am reluctant to use them unless the difference they make is more than I am thinking it would be.I am probably wrong about this, and if I am please feel free to let me know how and why I am.

That is one of our main issues. The camo kits dont do much better than mask scent, they provide less xp per skill check than mask scent and there are creatures like kreetles, rasps and other annoyances that constantly break camo.

they are fairly expensive to make, however, I just took grind quality stuff to make them in a factory, one for each planet. I only use them for people who cant mask themselves, such as doctors/ CM's etc. Right now, it is better than nothing for other players, but not as good as mask scent. I would like to see the camouflage line get revamped into a much more useful area that would affect both pvp and pve.

im assuming you have read the outdoorsman, and in that is one of the best explanations of how most of us would like to see camo work.

Don't Camo Kits provide scout xp when it protects the wearers as well. (i.e. You apply camo to yourself and 2 other people and you get scout xpfrom your camoflauge as well as scout xp from the other 2 people wearing your camoflauge) Although it is a quick way to gain xp it is really kind of useless when you don't need any more xp.

From what I remember, camo kits give you xp when applied to others, but if you and the friend you applied camo to both walk by the same creature, you only get the xp once. However, I haven't applied camo to myself or anyone else in quite a long time.

Also, while you can use Cammo Kits on others, from my experience a Cammo kit works *more* effectively on a ranger who has the + cammo mods than it does on someone who doesn't have ranger skills at all.

So while it will last longer if unbroken when applied to some one else than mask scent will, all my experience shows that for a non-ranger, explore IV level mask scent worked *better* than a Cammo kit.

In other words, cammo kits being applied to others is basically useless unless they have no mask scent at all, and 9 times out of 10 now, if they don't have mask scent they'll just use a vehicle to avoid combat entirely or escape when they need to.

About the only time I ever use cammo kits anymore are in extremely dangerous and crowded situations(like a bazillion rancors in one area on Dathomir) where the tiny fraction of an extra edge might be a good idea. And I never bother using them on anyone but myself anymore. If someone doesn't have a decent level mask scent, I just tell them to stay out of aggro range and move carefully...they are better off doing that than havinga cammo kit applied to them.

The cammo kits are the most useless part of an only moderately useful profession. Seriously, until you get like 3-4 boxes into that sub tree, mask scent actually breaks *less* than the stupid cammo kits, and since cammo kits no longer work on NPC's there just no reason for them at all.

More like

1. Affects aggro NPC's

2. Can be used ineffectively on others

Also affects aggro NPC's. So the two main differences:

1. Affects aggro creatures AND aggro NPC's.

2. Can be used on others.

affecting agro NPCs was nerfed, Puck.

It was working for me last night against npcs on dantooine. Killed a guy, walked up and looted him, and the 3 aggro npcs around him didn't even notice me.

"and the 3 aggro npcs around him didn't even notice me."

Aye. The developers have yet to make any changes one way or the other in regards to /conceal.

The skill still works in the same flaky way as it did previously... Sometimes working against humanoid NPCs... And sometimes not.

Haha! Well I guess I'll change it to "Sometimes works on aggro NPC's". I hardly used conceal and doubt I will once I reach Ranger again. I'm a loner and NPC's don't bother me so I usually stayed with Mask Scent.
