I draw your attention to the thread currently raging in the FarStar Forum.

Some of it may amuse you.

(Basically the Docs are up in arms cos some chap tried to sell some meat for 40cpu - three pages of up in arms..!)

Uhm well, Farstar is a newer server than most of the others iirc?

If yes, it's no wonder ppl discuss about pricing on that scales, it happens everywhere but where the economy is already more inflated the prices causing the discussions are just higher.

Well, on eclipse it's actually different. The high prices are offered by Docs or Armorsmithes etc and certain rangers (lo Frederick) say they are too high, heh .

They should see what is going on in Eclipse. Try 150cpu.

no. that price is insane. There is a merchant war going on in Eclipse and it isn't pretty. Keep to 15-25 cpu and you will still get rich. Your armour and food won't break you ether.

There is actually a 'war' between the buyers who gets most of the too low supply. Quite usual when demand is so much higher than supply and the economy is massively inflated due to a major uncleverness called 'missionterminals giving missions to non-newbies'.

This pricewar is not about "I want all so the others don't get anything", it's about "I don't get enough to be able to keep my vendor looking remotely stocked for some time" (Just think about certain minable ressources that haven't spawned in a really nearly perfect quality over month, noone knows when we get a new shift with avian meat or wooly hide in very good quality..., the corellian wooly and the dath avian are/were both VERY decent and anyone with a minimal clue will try to get as much as possible from that stuff if he probably won't see such quality again over month).

It's pointless to try to discuss the problem away with telling players "It's insane", it's caused by the way SWG is designed, not by the players adapting to the game's design.

I say we all just stop selling herb and avain for a month. Stockpile it instead. Listen to the cries and begging for it. Watch the prices skyrocket, and then perhaps the Docs will quit their whining. Might be nice to hear "Where are all the Rangers at?" and we might, for once, feel appreciated for what we offer in the way of resources.

There is an old saying, "Don't cut your own nose off just to spite your face."

God help you if doctors figure out that they can harvest their own meat. Then where will you be? So... go ahead... don't sell meat to the Doc. lol

zebraone:

other then rifleman/doctor and sometimes tk/doctor .. how many doctors do you know with combat abilities and a decent level of scout hunting?

They aren't just paying for the stats on a resource like they do for inorganic resources. The time it takes us, the equipment we need to effectively gather, the risk (of decay and death), shuttle tickets (I travel from lok to naboo to cnet to dant to cnet to dath to cnet to yavin to .. etc each day), and the BUFFS we need to be effective are all factors.

I don't know many rangers that price gouge, and in fact the ones who usually DO are the miners/crafters. I see miners afk spamming when I run thru big cities "selling 183k aluminum 3cpu!" and then I ask if they'll sell me the 3k and the response I only EVER get is "I wouldn't waste my time with that." WHY? Isn't it just the same as selling all of it at once for 3cpu? lol.

Do we accept 50-100cpu for lok avian when people yell, "No NO! SELL IT TO ME I'LL BUY IT FOR 100CPU!" wouldn't you? Try hunting perleks for 3 hours straight and tell me how much fun you're having.

Its pointless to argue. Organics take TIME and are HARD to get in large quantity. If you can't afford them then maybe you should talk to your doctor friend who charges me 10k for buffs and then complains when I try to sell them something at the point of making a profit. There are certainly enough doctors with 30 mil in the bank on starsider.

The main mistake that guy makes in his thread is that wheat and metal and other components cost so much as well. So then whats the logic? Organics should be cheaper because of this? How many people have alt accounts, guildmates or anyone renting them lots? Most of you have 12+ harvesters running 24/7.

Quoted: jeffdenbeffer: "2k for a stim is reasonable, considering the fact that 50 stims last a lifetime
It can't be that hard to find big amounts for a reasonable price, u just need to have a network of scouts (novices prefered) or CH. Rangers know the value of the stuff and r mostly charging what it's worth.
U can't compare it with mineable resources, that's basically just dumping lots of harvesters and come back to check after a week."

Oh ok. Pretty much sums it all up right there. Not that you guys are trying to take ADVANTAGE of people or anything. (hey he's imp tho .. so he's just talking "in character" right?)

But then notice:

wili: "With 5k Avian Meat you can make ~210 enhance packs (including schematics and criticals) so you have 35 enhance packs for health, strength, constitution, etc. Lets say every enhance pack has 28 uses. You can sell 980 sets of doc buffs. If you charge 5k for a set of buffs you will earn 4,9 mio credits."

First they complain about price gouging, then the only solution (until someone FINALLY mentions to just not buy it if you don't want to) is to price gouge in return? Smart.

The only time the prices on the meat/hide/bone should go above 25 cpu max is when the drops are tiny. if your hunting talus avian your lucky to get a 20 unit or higher drop then it should be a higher price, but not when it drops on an adventure world. one saturdays hunting on endor during it's resent good spawn gave me 43k of meat. it's not difficult and i mastered TKA doing it, so why should i charge massive amount for it i would have had to have done this at some point to get TKA so any thing i sell the resources harvested is a bonus.

There are lots of factors that go into pricing. On Bria, when I was doing things solo and didn't get much more than 5K to 10K, I didn't charge more than 25 CPU. However, now that a group of us Rangers have combined our efforts and on the last only good spawn of herb meat on bria in 4 weeks, we harvested 465K of the resources off of Bolle Bol on Naboo.

We ended up serving over 20 different customers but in order to make sure everyone on our list got some meat, we charged 40 CPU. It was just right. Everyone gotthey maximum amount of meat they could afford and we served everyone on our list.

We have been using Volsted's pricing guide but have changed the multipliers because we are regularly able to deliver high quantities of specific great resources (nothing less than 800 OQ just as a starting point). Right now, I think a perfect resources would be 60 CPU as the max. Because we tailor to masters, the pricing is fair. So saying that is should never be over 25 CPU is not realistic. Bria has been without a good avian spawn for about 6 weeks. We have 30 people wanting over 700K of meat even with it priced at 45 CPU. I think the way the resources shift and cause demand is awesome.

Now, what we are currently harvesting is 867 or 915 OQ avian. Realize that if in2 weeks a 975 OQ resource spawns, we will probably still only be charging 40-45 CPU because we would have statisfied demand a couple weeks ago. So what I am trying to say is that pricing depends on lots of factors (rarity, amount harvestable per kill, stats, quantity able to consistantly deliver, etc). If you are interested, here are our current multipliers using Volsted Pricing guide as a base. You can see that we have tried to be fair by using a consistantly even pricing system.

Avian Meat x2.0
Herb Meat x2.25
Other Meat x2.5
Hide/Bone x2.75

If a resource is under high demand, we add another 0.5 to the multiplier.
