This could be veeerryyyy bad.

If what I think is correct, we may have a serious serious relapse in SWG. I have a feeling we're gonna have the Great Creature Handler Reawakening. Is anyone else scared like me?

No, I havent been there in ages. I just made the inference that with the combat balance, there will be a need to rely on creatures again. which would be very bad.

The way I'm expecting it... combat won't just be changed for players / NPCs. The ENTIRE combat system will be undergoing a revamp.

That means Creatures / NPCs / players (and hopefully some of those wise guy CSRs) will all be involved in a new system. My guess is as good as yours though. If they do get stronger though?

My Creature to hit bonus will become that much more helpful in PvP! haha.

Hi, once again saying good, let them all be CHs.

Then i will pwn them in PvP should it come to that. PvP is too dangerous for pets, they get ganked first thing.

Fine, shoot my droid, big freaking deal, I will buy another. And I got skill points to gank yer CH, "a" "i said a" "a dammit" buttocks in combat.

CHs get attached to their critters. Droids are just a tool. And ya think we may get traps to be used against pets in the CB? (insert evil laff here)

I for one can't wait

its not PVP I am concerned about.. and we're getting pvp traps for critters?!? is that set in stone? I sure hope.

It's the pve Im concerned about. I had a feeling they will be the basis and crutch of all pve after the CB, like they once were. so we go from armor and foodstuffs to 3 grauls again? Im not feeling it.

Ok here we go with this topic again.

There are several sides to this. See if you can keep up.

CH was changed to be adjusted for a post Combat Balance world. But what CH's dont understand is that the CH changes effect our normal gaming lives. Take the teddy bear..err graul maul once a Light 60% kinectic tank right? And damn the devs they took it away from us players! Well actually if you fight them in the woods now you see they are really easy to kill. CH is a two sided profession. Everything thats done to the way creature handlers work effects normal creature killing. You know those quenkers we all love to level on? Remember the light 30/30 armored ones? Can you imagine trying to kill them as you leveled up Novice TK? No neither can I.

And why do CH's hate BE's? I cant live without my Light Armor 60 kinectic pets. One at level 37 one at level 43. For PvE they arent nerfed they are in fact far more powerful then the graul mauls of old. And i was a CH during the earliest parts of the game.

CH lacks in PvP in a big way. We all know this. CH as much to contribute to PvP as Ranger does. Go ahead and read into that. If you are a CH to do PvP you have wasted a lot of points. Get a droid. Should CH be able to be strong in PvP? Thats a matter of a lot of debate. Which really isnt going to be to much on the Ranger forum. Outside of the fact that a lot of us rangers are CH's.

If it were up to me, and its not, i would have reversed the CH changes to make the creatures more diffucult to kill again. Since we are all walking battle tanks anyway. It would have given us a challange. But since the creatures we are fighting are set for post CB and we are set for Pre-CB. Its all a big joke. See the krayt dragon and all the "How do i solo a ..." threads for proof of this.

CH will take its prominence again post combat balance. The dev threads for many months have stated this. You will need the tank in front of you since you wont have 70-90% armor or weapons that hit for insane amounts of damage once per second. Want another post-CB adjusted profession thats complaining? Talk to the jedis. They are built as of pub 9 for post CB.

Do i seem like i have an axe to grind over this? Yes you bet i do. Because i have seen this argument for many many months. And if you would just visit your local bio-engineer and understand the power of a frankenpet you would be happier. If you say "I only use Wild Pets". Thats your decision and now you have to live by it.

I'm not worried, I'm sure they'll take creature handlers into account when doing the CB. They nerfed them once so that not EVERYBODY would use creatures, I don't think they'll let it get back to that state again.

Gotta change that sig... hehe no longer Smuggler / Smith.. now Merchant / Artisan / Smith

Anyway my post is just based off the assumption that the original author was concerned that Critters would become too powerful with the Combat Balance.

No new traps that I'm aware of, but that neat Creature To-Hit Bonus would come in handy in PvP if CHs were looming. Who knows though.

A fear of a lot of handlers is that pets will become too powerful.

Sounds contridictory, no? Handlers are deathly afraid that we will see another round of nerfs because our profession becomes "the" combat profession again.

Up until Publish 5 we had four major nerfs, with the last one seeing a needed tree revamp and a total mockery of a rebalance in hindsight. Publish 6 broke pet usage for nearly a month. We went from overpowered to one of the most broken combat professions. (Well, perhaps the only balanced one, but in light of no one else being fixed it certainly feels broken...)

As it is, there are very few handlers that have stuck with the profession through all this. I don't think any of us can handle being put in the position again, yet we know that balancing pets versus people is not likely to work unless things change dramatically.
