I am 4041 Ranger and TKM right now, I was planing on going Master Ranger but I dotn seem to be able to see the point. The main reason why I have ranger is to harvest milk/meats and do a little tracking here and there. I know most Master Rangers look down on people who dont go master and just do like 0040 or somthing but is Master Ranger really worth all the Sp's?

Also would 4004 tka, Master Pike and like 3040 or 0340 ranger be good for harvesting/some pvp?

i'm afraid, the honest answer, speaking completely from a game mechanics viewpoint, is NO.........

butI dont believe in doing things halfway, and eventually it WILL be worth it. so i'm going for master.

Guess it depends on your goals. Myself, for instance, decided that Ranger would be a nice change and something that would compliment my group of friends well. So now I'm out hunting for my Doctor, Bio-Engineer and Chef friends. I have a purpose, and since to make the game more enjoyable I hunt largely unbuffed....so I use the majority of skills you pick up in the ranger trees - well maybe not trapping.

As a community, I don't think we look down on partial Rangers as a whole. On my server it does appear that we are FOTM. As so many of us have stated , if you enjoy the template(for lack of a better term), then play it. Don't let a few people who disagree with the way you are playing bring your game down. You are playing it to enjoy it , not to listen to everyone else tell you how it should be played.

The community is here for advice and to help Rangers in general. I personally don't look down on any other players style of play. Have fun. In the end , its a game.

Well, I dont know about its PvP usefullness since I have never done that.

I myself have been master ranger and now I find myself at 4-0-4-0 scout, 0-4-4-0 Doctor and TKM. I am able to do alot of the things I like with that template. I can go wherever I want and buff myself and have a great time. I can still harvest and have good terrain negotiation. Granted tracking is useful but not a great necessary component. Veghash and my droid gets my harvesting to a much higher degree than my level of scout allows me.

And with that I still consider myself a Ranger. Since being a ranger isnt quite all about a tag and big camps(tho they are cool ) its about knowing the land and where to go to hunt what creature for what resource. Its knowing at a glance without having to /examine something whether or not you should tempt fate or /maskscent up and move on.

As stated in my signature. Ranger isnt a profession. Its a lifestyle. With that in mind you should do what you enjoy with your character. If its not fun. Dont do it.

When Ranger gets a revamp I will most likely charge right back up the tree and relearn the professions new twists as I did the first time. But til then I will do what I currently fancy.

Totally agree with the above statement. Unlike other professions, partial Ranger just makes more sense for many. I am Master Ranger now and have been since Aug after launch but....that tag may need to go soon.

As MR, MCH and *cough* three blocks of pistoleer, I have 0 points left over. I can't really drop any combat, I'm wimpy enough as it is. I am not unhappy with my lack of combat but I can't train a single FS block without surrendering a Master title or dropping my much needed combat.

Master Ranger takes way too many points for the perks. We all understand this. I doubt you will ever be asked by a fellow Ranger, are you Master yet? We just don't see this profession that way.

I agree, we dont look down on partial rangers. Because of the system we play under, rangers a incredibly weak in terms of the job they have to do, the options open to them and the roles they can fit into. This mean most of the time 'stacking' is the way to go but many of us stay at master rangers simply because we are cranky gits

Calc wasnt a ranger for a while i dont think but i never saw him as anything but a ranger. So i supose it doesnt matter what skills you have in game, if you have the right mind set of a ranger then you are a ranger through and through.

If the reason you have Ranger is for the harvest bonus you WILL want to master with the new changes comming down the pipe. 40% bonus to harvesting is a great reason to join us in the Ranger profession

actually, currently that's 40% to everyone BUT the Master that's within 64m of your location and harvests. You only get the 20% "grouping" bonus, unless there's a non-Master Ranger (then you get 30%) or, land sakes, a SECOND Master Ranger in the group with you (then you each realize the 40% bonus from each other).

See the harvesting testing thread for the details, I know a bunch of folks are getting ready to test this now.

Really ? (That was news to me !)

Answering your question: No, not at this time.... It's not worth the SP (Maybe in the furure, but not right now).

Thanks for the advice...

So if i wanna make good money harvesting how much ranger will i need with a 108 harvest droid and veghash.

I know the term "good money" if vague but at what point does more harvest mods outway the SP's it costs to get the Mods

If you're a TKM or want to go pike (or any melee), forget the droid. It will only slow your harvesting down.

Also, if you already have tracking 4, aren't you already making good money from harvesting? The +10 you get from the master ranger box is going to be barely noticeable.

If you like camo, camping and trapping, go for it. If you're just after the harvesting mod, you should spend the SP in something you'll get more use out of.
