Thread: Armor Certification Question

How do I get certified to use my "Padded Tantel Armor" (or any other armor for what matters)?

I can't wear any armor what so ever... Haven't tried "Bone Armor" yet, though.

Thanks, Xin

Ok, first check in the Novice box of your Elite combat profs for which type of Armor Mitigation you have....for Ranger & CH it is Battle. Whichever you have the most mitigation in, you have to refit your armor to that. In your inventory, click on a piece of armor...that last option that shows up on radial menu is refit. You'll get a warning that tells you you can only refit a piece of armor one time. If you proceed, you have to choose which type, for me it was Battle armor, then you have to choose the look. For Battle Armor, the choices are Bone or Padded...I chose Padded. Do that for all your armor pieces. Good Luck.

Good Morning

Any armor you have currently can be converted Battle Armor (not sure what type armor Pikes use). Just click on each piece and select 'Refit Armor' and make the selection you want to convert it too.

You can convert any armor to any other type (ie assault to combat).

armor should give you an option to "refit" on the radial menu... when you use this, you will get to pick what type of armor it will turn into...

as a ranger, you'd want some sort of "battle armor"... i think the game gives you the option of bone or padded...

as for the "padded tantel armor" pieces, these convert with the mods!... my girlfriend tested this last night, and now has a nice set of bone armor boots with mods, heh...

I converted my comp last night, was just wondering though (as I can't get in game due to being @ work ) - can we only convert armour we have that we are not certed for? E.g, I already have a set of pre CU padded, can I convert this too?

Since Oreet is a BH/Pistoleer that means i can use either Recon or Battle armor.

i guess i can't refit my composite into Bounty Hunter Armor though.

is ubese considered Recon armor? if so, that's what i'll convert my comp into i guess, but it'll be a shame to convert my comp helmet.

Pre CU my comp helm had these stats:

Special Protection
Electricy 80%
Kinetic 80%
Energy 80%

Effectiveness 90%

this armorsmith on Lowca started selling what he called Tri-80 Composite armor. had 80% for 3 special protections, and anywhere from 75% to 80% base effectivness. i got a great effective slice on the helm to cap the effective stats at 90%

Just remember the only thing that matters when converting armor is the base.

The higher the base when converting the better the armor will be when converted.

Composite converts real well to battle and recon armor.

Ubese converts to garbage don't waste your time.

That's because most comp was high kinetic with high base resists as well..

"Good" pre-CU Ubese armor was mostly crafted for high kinetic, and sacrificed base resists...
So most pre-cu Ubese is now bad..

But, that doesn't mean Ubese converts to garbage.. just the extremely high Kinetic ubese..

I found some old Ubese in my bank from well over a year ago that I saved, and it coverted very nicely into both recon and assault armor.

Also, if you've ever done the rebel themepark, go search your bank/house for that Ubese helmet and Mabari pants that were quests rewards. They turned out pretty well and have state resist mods on them and high condition. Same for Imperial themepark ST armor, and stuff that was 30% base bought from a faction recruiter. (I wish I had stocked up on that)

I also found yesterday that if you spend a little time hunting around on vendors, you can probably find a bunch of smiths that have full comp suits for sale at fairly reasonable prices. I picked up a couple of very good sets for pre-CU comp at reasonable prices, and they converted into fairly nice sets of battle and recon armor for me. My pre-CU 75% kinetic ubese is no where near as good as the stuff I played with last night doing conversions, so until you find a good AS in the post-CU world, it MIGHT help to just find one that's got some decent comp sets up for sale if they're not overpriced, and then convert those to at least get yourself some armor for the time being. I'm finding it pretty useful to have armor on plus a decent PSG now, both are really helping to cut down how much I get hit for.
