I must have missed this in all of the documentation prior to the CU but it appears now that there is no reason not to wear armor as long as you've mastered a combat profession. For example, I'm a master pistoleer/master ranger so I have 100% mitigation for both recon and battle armor. Don't get me wrong, I like the fact I have no encumberances but it just seems that there should be some trade off. Please let me know if I missed something as I wasn't on that long last night. Thanks!

Pre CU my comp helm had these stats:

Special Protection
Electricy 80%
Kinetic 80%
Energy 80%

Effectiveness 90%

I converted just about everything I had into padded since I love the look, and my 80% base composite converted into 5100 padded. I was very happy.

Then I proceeded to the DWB and when I got back to have it repaired I lost the helmet and chestplate. Bummer. The only bad part is now I'm running around looking like everyone else with blue padded.

As a reference here are the armor certs.

Recon:
Smuggler, Pistoleer, Rifleman, BioEngineer

Assault:
Bounty Hunter, Commando, Squad Leader

Everyone else get's battle armor. Kinda ironic since at one point Rangers were to be certified for Mandalorian, and now we aren't.

is ubese considered Recon armor? if so, that's what i'll convert my comp into i guess, but it'll be a shame to convert my comp helmet.

I was under the impression that BH's gotAssault Armor (Comp, Bounty Hunter, Mando, etc.)

Correction:

Since Oreet is a 3-0-4-0 BH / Master Pistoleer...

i converted my comp to Ubese because i would be hindered by wearing composite since i have such low BH skills, when i'd need Master BH to effectively use it. And since i'm only sticking around the game until June (when my subscriptions run out) i'm not going to bother grinding ot Master BH.
