I am a ranger.
I have been since the age of 7 when i read the hobbit. At 9 i read lord of the rings. It merely confirmed my role in life. Eye of the Beholder gave me form. Since then, there has been no other choice. We have heroes we follow, Drizzt Do'Urden , the least of our kin. We follow the call, we keep to the calling, through darkness, we seek the light. Fear not my fellow Rangers, we will have our destiny, the forces of good will prevail. Will...willl......become...our...destiny!

Welcome and I like your lil descriptions there.
Don't let some people dissuade you from doing or playing the way you want too.
Alot of Rangers RP in one way or another.
I have played a Ranger in one form or another for probably the last 23 years ever since playing D&D back in 82 and continuing through games such as EQ, Lords of the Ring, Baldur's Gate series and so on.
Again, congrats and welcome.

A kindred spirit! Same here, and nearly as long (84 was when I got into the Ranger lifestyle).

Ah, now we can move this thread away from my drunken ramblings (a days gettin largered, then gettin all excited watchin a trailer for EQ2, not much of an excuse i know!). I cant quite beat '82 (I was only 5), but from around '87, playing D&D in the Forgotten Realms Campaign setting. My earliest memory of bein 'rangery'? I was a half-elf ranger, hunting through some dungeons near Scardale i believe. Tried to stick a rampaging ogre with a spear jammed at an angle into the ground. Stupid idea, the spear broke and my head had a swift meeting with an ogres club.
Lets here all those earliest memories of high adventure!

Ditto.
Aragorn LOTR.... Drizzt as well, though... and not to forget Robin Hood's gang...
In game I am elusive and quiet, spending most of my time in the wilderness hunting (I even have my home far away from civilization). Sometimes I wish I could wear a robe that makes my character anonymous, for when I visit civilization ![]()
We, who have chosen Rangerhood have sacrificed the abilityto sucessfully participate inPvP.... We play no role in the GCW as the game is designed. I hope that one day, we might be useful to our factions ![]()
And for those Rangers whom stay loyal to Rangerhood ---- Big Hugs !!!

Ok, I have not been reading many of the boards in the last few weeks... It has been getting me down, the negitivity in general. I have beem keeping most of my opinions to myself. I have been beating myself over the head trying to figure out what I'll do when the CU hits live. And, wondering how many points I could allocate to other skills by dropping Ranger. I came to a conclusion this evening.
I need to have a positive attitude!
Tomorrow, when the CU is live I'll still be a Ranger, a MASTER Ranger. Next week, after things start to settle... I'll be a Ranger. A month from now... Dayre Realm, Master Ranger, broken compass will still be wandering the bluffs of Yavin4. I know what to expect tomorrow, I have tested it. Heck, I even foraged till I got every item we can get, then I ate it, at 5 filling it tasted pretty good.
I first mastered Ranger before conceal, before tracking and before something else that was so long ago I have forgotten what it was! The CU scares me not, I can't wait for the next guy that says to me, "Wow, Master Ranger, don't see many of you"
Thank all you Rangers for being a proud community!
Thank all you Rangers for being made of strong stuff!
Thank you all... all you Rangers!
Dayre Realm will remain a Master Ranger... I hold nothing against anyone who would choose to drop it for other things. But, I am very proud of this profession.
I am a RANGER
