What would you quantify as being some of the greatest moments in Ranger history?

PLEASE, PLEASE, share only your most cherished memories and keep it positive.

Personally, I'll never forget Owen's complete pwnage of Tigg's Tune. Absolutely Priceless!

about 30 novice marksmen and novice melee crazies taking out the big ass Gorax, unbuffed and unarmored carrying cdefs while a few full temp Rangers held him back.


My other favourite is if you click on my pa spot on the leftto show a Ranger can make screenie of the day (twice even)

The success that Owen and JB had in getting the devs to recognize that Rangers WERE a combat class deserving of the CL and health bonuses that went with them. While we never did get the offensive/defensive mods that many of the other professions did, the fact was that those two managed to make our voices heard in the dark days of the pre-CU madness.

The GRM's.

The krazy mad CL150+ kreetles during CU 'bedding in time'.

The PwnDartage of krayts and consequential cheesing off of the glowstickers.


My personal 'greatests'...

This forum, or more accurately you lot.

Actual debate and discussion of changes and plans rather than just plastering the boards with huge coloured letters.

Following Paks toon across Yavin on a GRM.

Running about with Lammergeier and Thortac taking screenies when they upped the resolution of images. (OK not 100% rangerlieness but we did put HTFB's up)

And finally, right from the beginning for me. Coming in towards Espa one day and seeing this huge tented village thing, stopping by and ending up hanging around for an age with a Ranger and a Medic who were both grinding different types of XP. They told me so much about how the game 'should' be and how they enjoyed it that it turned my whole approach to the game around.

'course, getting tipped 10k as I left camp was cool, especially as the deal was not to pay it back but pay it forward.

  1. Discovering the joy of the Ranger forum.

  2. Forming lifelong friendships (I hope)with some of the people in this forum.

  3. The chaos of the GRMs

  4. Being in a profession most people steered clear of because it just wasn't uder enough

  5. THe almost daily appearance of my bottom.

  • the great hawt pants war (well one of the many) and the set back we suffered when someone found a picture of calc in hawtpants and posted it here. I laughed for a week.

    My best memories?


    1. When I was ayou n00b, more thenyear and a half ago, meeting with DaveG in his HTBF and talked over 4 hours straight about the professions, weapons, foods, traps, wildlife, hunting... And thne DaveG becoming the teacher...

    2. Roaming around on all planets, exploring wildlife, fauna, flora (well I was in the habit of trying to milk everything possible, forage where I could and so on... ), getting camo's, makeing crates (yup, I dragged along a factory for making runs )

    3. Being tought Master Ranger by DaveG later, during a short and nice ceremony, with friends and people present at that time.

    4. Taming creatures (tho not pure Rangerish, to me it still counts).

    5. Meeting other great Rangers, both in game and here on the forums. And the corresponding community.

    Here's mine (in no particular order):


    - The great Rodian/Bothan Wars. Phenix, you were a worthy adversary. You could always make me laugh when we really got into our insult wars. /salute


    - The great CDEF Pistol Duel. Me and al-djinn' had an epic CDEF Pistol Duel during my first GRM. /salute


    - The great camo/h--tpant wars. These were great time as well. As a player with a Tailor toon, it was always fun being the traitorous Tailor that was on the camo side of things. RATGWNIWNU forever!!!!!!


    - The Daily Appearance of Calc's butt. Nuff said.


    - Meeting several new friends on Lowca. Draknev and Shubacca especially.


    - Tiggs Toons. Always fun to see how we can rip on Owen's Monkey-love each week.


    - The Ranger Hat. We never did get the hat, but we'll always have one in our hearts. Let's just hope it doesn't clog any arteries.


    - The Ranger Forums. You guys are all great. We've been through some good times, and some bad times, but we've always perservered. We've had our teeth kicked in, and still keep getting back up for more. Guys, you have no idea just how much I appreciate all of you. You've all helped me through some rough times, and I feel priveleged to call you my friends. /salute

    Haha. No one probably remembers me, but I was the ranger that went to the hawt side. Waaaaaaaaay back when it all first started, Camina or someone from my server started posting pictures of me in Hawtpants with the Master Ranger tag. Back then I made ita habit to go overt and run up and down the hills in Theed in nothing but hawtpants, /yelling VIVA LA RESISTENCE! and generally taunting everyone who couldn't run as fast as me. She was a smart*** and decided to declare my hawtpants fetish to the world.


    Anyway, I loved Ranger. I will always be a Ranger at heart, and even though I largely moved on over a year ago and didn't post a whole lot in here, I still had MR alts in one form or another, and wont ever forget how awesome this community was.


    As West Virginia's state motto says: Montani Semper Liberi -- Mountaineers are Always Free.

    So many memories. In-game:


    • Fred, Lyth and Desktop_Sakimaking Eclipse much more friendly

    • all the chats in RIN makinglife tolerable.

    • hearing Calc and Paks back on teamspeak was awesome (Paks giggling could turn Darth Vader into a pussycat.)

    • The GRMs were great of course.

    • Earning my Master Ranger badge, and knowing it meant something

    • Being able to make Jedi jealous with my hunting prowess


    On the forums:


    • The Outdoorsman proposal was amazing and gave me hope for years.

    • the Calc Be Gone thread (and the resulting story of the Bothan in the Punch Bowl)

    • Oreet and the nightsister milking along with the Bothan/Rodian Wars

    • The various monkey-related fun (both of Brisc and Owen's creation)

    • RATGWNIWNU

    • polite words with DaveG that never, ever involved disagreements

    • sharing a love of the game and the profession with so many of you

    • meeting people on the forums, and knowing that I'm part of a great community.

    • Calc /nuzzling his way into expanding the Ranger population no matter what it took

    I will miss this forum (it'll never be quite the same), and if things go poorly, the game as a whole.

    This is horrible! I return to find my new title on the forum is "Jedi". What's up with that? If they wanted to confer that I'm rare and learned, they'd make my title RANGER. and then make it camo colored.
