Thread: Yet Another Can you track? story

So I'm on Eclipse tonight, with my Ranger, in Coronet, and I get this tell from a guy named Raul.
"Hi, I was wondering if you'd be able to track the blackboar for me on Tatooine? I don't have much money, but I'd pay you what I could." (No letters or caps have been changed.)
I replied, "Sorry, I'm not available for tracking tonight. :/"
Very shortly, he replied, "No problem, thanks anyway! Have a good night. 
"

Yes, my fellow Rangers... I finally haveanother good tracking-for-hire story out of Eclipse!
Raul, if you're reading, you help make up for all the buttwipes who sit and moan and whine and try to guilt me into tracking for them. I hope that someday you'll catch me when I'm available, because you sound like someone that'd be worth tracking for. Thanks.

Now theres a good thread. Sometimes you help someone who deserves it. And you feel like an (lets say donkey) for doing it. On Bloodfin most Rangers are the ones that people go to when they need help. We're considered the good guys.

I wear my Master Ranger title with pride, and my Ignore list is growning because of it 
Why can't people either not accept a "Sorry, I am buzy atm" or "My price is x amount of credits per hour, or untill the mark is found if less then an hour"? They must always haggle, or tell me that I have to drop everything I'm doing in order to come help out a total stranger that isn't even paying me what I generally ask.
/sigh.

I have tonnes like that, probly about 2/3 a session. There seems to be alot of polite and good gamers around on Eclipse these days, but i supose its just where you look. Ocassionally if its a realy nice person or someone needing a help in hand (not flush with cash) ill track for them a while and not charge but generally i dont do tracking services.
My usual chat goes like this:
Guy: "Excuse me, could you or are you available to track please?"
Thor: " Sorry mate, i dont do that service currently, good luck for the future though"
Guy: "No problem, thanks anyway"
Thor: "Anytime, later mate"
Thats it. Its not all bad, yes ive had complete asses ask me before who dont seem to realise getting paid well does not always equal fun, or cant believe you dont want to earn creds, but for me they are few and far between.

- Yes (wonders to self, pirates, piggies or farmers??)
Can you track NPC's?
- Yes (or maybe your lost brain cell?)
I need you to track one for me
- ??? (Sorry, I've given up being polite now.)
I need to find the mixture farmer.
- (I hit a macro that gives my current T&C)
100k?? That's steep. I mean, it's just a farmer....
- (I hit a macro that gives the reasons why I charge what I charge including explaining that I get ZERO xp for tracing his farmer and I could just as easily be earning 100cpu harvesting meat AND gaining scout xp, trapping xp and some camp xp too)
So you don't get ANYTHING from tracking?

- Cheers, I'll bear that in mind. Am flying out of here, by the way, best of luck finding your farmer. (By this time I've wandered to the Starship consoles that have appeared in Starports and am tabbing /bo tr. I vanish from sight)

Yes that does make things nice. A few nights ago I had a request to track for the Hero of Tatooine quest, and quite frankly did not feel like wasting a whole night doing that (plus I was filling an order for a customer), and replied that I was unavailable.
I figured that that would be the end of it, boy was I wrong. First the guy tries to bribe me with the promise of 500k and a bonus if I could help him find a moisture farmer in 2 hours or less. I still reply that I can't (plus I am gathering avian meat on Naboo, at 150cpu for a customer, much better payoff)
But then the harassment starts, every 30 seconds another tell, trying to convince me that I should go do this. It finally got so bad I had to add the guy to my ignore list, I can see why NOBODY puts up that tracker tag!

This thread is hilarious! rofl! As an aspiring Master Ranger on Infinity I can relate to these gut busting can u track? stories!
I was in Cnet the other day getting buffs for a routine hide job for an armorsmith, when i get a tell from this guy...."Can u track?", "I need u to track me a krayt dragon".
I told him i never tried that before, but was willing to give it a shot, then he proceeds to tell me..."You cant help me, i have to do it alone". So i say "its up to u, its ur funeral".
It was my first tracking job (I trck for my guild members for free), so i did not know what to charge so I tell him "if u kill the dragon on the first go its free, 5k if u put up a good fight, and 10k if u die within the first 5 mins". To make a long story short, I couldnt find the krayt dragon, so we camped the scythe schematic spawnpoint, witnessed a newbie slaughter and he jumped in hacking and slashing! " 2 mins later hes sending me a /tell from the cloning facility with all sorts of excuses on why he bit the dust.....to his credit he did tip me the 10k.
I have yet to figure out a fair price for tracking services, but rest assured, this Ranger forum is a valuable tool for Rangers everywhere. Keep up the great posts, and I am proud to call myself Ranger!

Ok I know this is not a trade forum but I am new and would like to know what is reasonable fees for tracking and obivisiouly please included time because it is so precious. .
