Thread: Update on Tracking the Gorax

It my finding that you can indeed /areatrack the Gorax under the animal section. The odd thing is, you can't harvest resources from him which make one think he is a NPC. Go figure.

This may be old news to some of you, but at least it is 'confirmed' now.

thanks for this update. I was going to post a quesion about this becaus it had yet to be confirmed.

I STILL think one of the "Kings among Rangers" around here should create a 'big game hunting' thread. I'm too new here and still can't edit posts and also havn't done enough BGH.

There is a big long krayt hunting post in the game guides, but it kinda bashes rangers and our abilities. While the post isn't terrible wrong in how it assess our skills, it discards us as a waste, and that hurts.

The Gorax better should be NPCs and not animals, the Gorax species fits as much into the animal section of areatrack as shuttles, AT-ST's and all that other wierd stuff coming up there do.

For reasons see this.

Me and a guild friend went Gorax hunting last night, I tracked and tracked both animal and npc 'cause I was not quite sure. I had no luck. My friend however stumbled on TWO Gorax's being attacked by 5-6 players.

We watched a bit, they said we could help, we died , I got great pics of my corpse with a Gorax in the background.

They do indeed appear as animals on track.

EDIT: We found that they hurt the mind pool as much as if not more than the health and action pools

Back in June or July when they had the great Gorax hunt, i was on Lok, with a bunch of Guildies. I was still just a novice ranger with tracking 1. But my buddy Ichibod(left the game last month) was a Master Ranger. So he tracked one down in less than 15 minutes. i did an area track and it was in the animal section.

They onlydroploot, Gorax bone fragments, they can be used to upgrade a ranged weapon.

Never really had the initiave to track one of these, but I was wondering if they can be soloed by Ranger/Riflemen?

I didn't try it. Everytime I came as close as 65m my camo broke, so I refused to shoot at him .

I've taken down a few in the last few days with a buddy. I'd say very comparable to Canyon or Giant Krayt. Most Resists are 60% or thereabouts, but ham has been 480k (more like the ancient krayts I've seen). Very similar attack as Krayts where you're dizzied/stunned for most of the fight or at least my tank was, buddy is former ranger now master doc/swords. I'm not sure if the Gorax is soloable by Master Ranger/Rifles but not too difficult with our combination. We ran into some trouble when another gorax spawned on top of us and we couldn't separate them, however it's been pretty good fun. Good Luck.

Gorax is 400-480k HAM, heavy armor, 65% kinetic, 45% energy, 35% rest, LS vuln.

Main attack is a KD/dizzy. They do not stun/intimidate/bleed/anything else.

Rifleman cannot realistically solo one. Concealshot does not work for more than a few shots. However, any melee prof with a good set of armor can tank one nicely. Only a swordsman can do a reasonable amount of damage although. We had a melee def stacker tanking for us and she'd get KD'd regularily with 120 KD def and 100 KD def food as well. If your ranged people don't have armor on the gorax will kill them easily when the tank is flopping.

Also, they are easy to find, I usually find one in minutes of looking.
