i think you have to target the player you want to rescue and then hit the button. you will wave your arms to get the attention to you. then you usually get killed , but you saved your friend. ive done it a few times, its fun

It sure is, haha. I was helping my Wookie get XP, and he roared at a Hermit Spider baby, lmao and they all freaked and attacked him...I rescued and was killed...I swear those things have been stronger since the big patch, haha (Sentry Hermit Spiders)

I beleive this one should be renamed /suicide

The object is to target someone who is in troble (being attacked) and/rescue them before theyget incapped or at-least DB'd.After an extremely longpause your toon will stand up and wave his armsaboutand scream bad nasy insults at the creatures attackingyour target, trying to get them to pay attention to you instead of the person they were paying attention to. If successful, hold your breath and waitfor the cloning window to come up (write down the coordinates before you click ok so you don't have to keep asking where they are cause they are way too busy killing and dieing to tell you), but the person you rescued now has time to run away, get healed, etc...If youhave enoughother combat skills or abig enough group of friends to kill the creaturethat is now targetted at you, you might not have to make that trip, and if you're far enough away and someone else (pets included) is close enough and does enough damage, the creaturemight even turn back. Another tactic is to be ready withyour finger over the burstrun hotkey.

This also currently works by rescuing animals, enemies, overt or coverts, npcs, bounty hunter mission targets, pretty much anybody who can ever be attacked for any reason can be rescued so far as I've read here, though I haven't tried all of the combos myself yet. As soon as you rescue someone, the object doing the killing now gets the option of shooting at you (or will auto-attack, I think). If you weren't able to attack that object before, then once they do damage to you, you will be allowed to return fire at-will.

Novice Brawler gets a related skill called taunt that they can use against a single mob (or pc, or...)to draw agro of that one mob from whoever they were on to the brawler doing the taunting. Resuce is a bit more powerful in that taunt only works on creatures you can already attack, whereas rescue can be used on anyone/anything under attack (as far as I've can tell from what I've read here... please correct if I'm wrong), but you also get the disadvantage that you may have a more difficult time targetting a PC (can't tab-select) until they start attacking you, which may give them time go get another shot off. Hopefully the player in PvP is so confused by the target getting changed on them that they don't get any special attacks off before you do your duty or get the *edit* out of dodge.

One handy thing that I have noticed with rescue is that you can avoid having to click on the person you want to rescue by supplying a name to the command. Ie: "/rescue FairMaiden". This can be handy when there is one person in your group that you need to protect at all costs, like a doctor. Before you start the fighting, set up an alias or macro that does /rescue (nameofDoc), and you will be able to quickly get any aggresors off of them.

Mmmm... that is good to know. However, I have been noting where they are in the group and hit CTNL-# where the # is 1 to9 and coresponds to group order, where you are #1 and if you are not the leader he/she is #2. I have a friend that has gone to the dreaded 2-account trick to get past points with another char. She is an Artisan and pistoleer. Being new and not a good scout yet she picks up aggro creatures like a magnet. I hit CNT-3, SHFT-F10 (my resque is there) and pop out the sword (I have a "mode" macro that switches to sword and sword commands) and start the spin move. My friend is a doctor on his other char so it actually works as intended

oh, did they tell you the "dark side" of resque and PvP? wait... I didn't say that...

Target the player Wokio, not the player's target.

I set my pet on protect. Once the MOB goes after my creature I hit them with some traps stink bomb works great along with sonic pulse and any state effets that you r creature does. Once they are out of killing me range I use rescue the MOB turns it attention back to me and then my creature attacks it again, because it is attacking me.

This helps save some of the HAM of my creature and I don't get killed, at least not yet

When the new traps become available rescue will serve to lure them into the traps

Is anyone else having this issue besides me?

When ever i use rescue... it does not work no animation or anything instead I get a TEF targeted ad shot at by the player I was trying to rescue.

Has anyone found any useful purpose to /rescue yet? I've used it, but I don't really see what it's for besides the creature attacking me as opposed to someone else. I see limited use if you have a Jedi to protect (Antarian Ranger's anyone?) or a Doc. But other than that, why in my right mind do I want to die for someone else?
