I wasn't aware of this until recently, but apparently, GreenMarine has left SOE
I don't know who our new designer is, but it would be good if we could get some info on this, so we know who to direct our comments to.

Sorry Phenix, but GM hasn't been OUR designer for a long time (since NRaas' time). They stoppped pidgeon-holing the devs, becuase they needed the flexibility to assign whoever was free to whatever task needed to be done. The expansions also fouled up any hopes of having certain devs permanently assigned to specific professions. My point here is, don't expect to be told that "insert name here" is your new Dev, becuase I doubt it will happen.
That being said, GM was a champion of the little (wo)men of SWG. He was pro Ranger, Smuggler, SL, and ENT/Tailor, and I believe he truely wanted us to get the love we deserved. He was certainly an asset to us, and he will be missed.

He's a really nice guy too, got my picture taken with him at the first Fan Fest.

This explains a lot... managment here is moving away from specilization to having everyone doing everything.... can't say for SOE, but here at least all that tactic does is ensure that things get done fast, but most of the people working on it don't know what they're doing.....

Hmm...for some reason, I was under the impression that they were still using specific designers for specific professions. You'll notice that the same devs always post on the same boards, for example. Green Marine was the only dev to post on the Smuggler forums with updates, Blixtev seems to be the one working on BH, etc. GreenMarine was also the one who gave the scout community the heads up on the publish 20 trap changes, though it now seems Blixtev is the one working on that.

But at the same time, name another programmer that posts, you know? I am not saying that GM wasn't involved in Scout and Ranger programming, BUT, saying "he is our dev," is not accurate.

nevertheless, he was a great supporter of us. He knew we needed love, and wanted to give us a cool upgrade.

That is too bad, it seems like he's been here forever. I'm sure we all wish him the best of luck with his new job.

Yeah shame GM has gone, he was a good person to chat to ![]()
Calc is right that he isnt our dev and infact if we were going on past dev experience it would be Shadowbrak who has worked most on us since our initial revamp disapeared. Hopefully GM will do well in his new job (/pray he's gone to lotr online heh) and the devs will come out of the woodwork and let us know what they have been up to.

I think my biggest hope now is that we get increased communication from any dev. It would be great to see Blixtev around here giving us information like he gave the BHs and putting little fixes in for us, the way he did for them. That kind of dedication is really impressive and I think that we're one of the communities that would really stand up and thank him. When Blixtev announced to the BH forum that he took his free time and fixed something for them, yet he still got flamed and whinned to, I was really disgusted. I don't think that this community would do that.
Even if GreenMarine wasn't "our" dev, I think he stuck up for the underdogs and probably had more of a vision for us than most of the other developers. So it'll be harder to get our issues pushed forward if they haven't played as a Ranger and don't understand the serious lack of usefullness. Of course, it could work the opposite way and since they don't really have a vision for us anymore, they could come to these forums and see the visions we've put forth.
Either way, GreenMarine was a good developer and I'm sorry to see him go, though I wish him all the best of luck. I really hope he stops by and tells people if the new MMO project he's working on takes off. If it does, I'd be tempted to try it just to see what he can do.
