There's also a message to SWG fans relating to smugglers and an email from the Pilot correspondent.
(not sure if that link will stay the same, but it was posted on the 25th of July, so it's valid as of today)
Anyway, here's a good quote that he posted that relates to this post:
Greenmarine:
"Additionally, I have to say that all of the work I was assigned at SOE will be carried on. David White and Thomas Blair, in particular, are very intelligent designers with strong work ethics and a good since of community. I think you can expect them to bring a lot of good to the smuggler profession. Don't hinge expectations on a single designer. SOE has plenty of good designers to carry on the torch."
[EDIT: Eeek.. my html carried into my sig.. weird.]

*sob*
It really does feel like a loss since he's one of the few names I've known since the beginning and his ideas and support were always great. I'm sure we'll be okay though (if any organization fails due to the loss of one person, they're in really bad shape).
Now that I have his livejournal (Thanks Phenix!), I can get some more insight into game development. This should be interesting.

Hm, does anyone know David's and Thomas' nicknames (or even better has anyone bothered to collect a list of real and board names of the devs)?

I do! I do! Sadly, I don't agree with the style of one of them, so I won't mention their names. I will say that they are bascailly the big dog devs and they can be found fairly easily in the Dev Tracker.
