Thread: Availability of Camo Kit Resources
Alrighty then... That last thread seems to drift a little off target.
So let's try this again. ![]()
Which camoflauge kit resources are sufficiently difficult to acquire that they should be changed to other resources from that same planet?
The developers understand your concern regarding the flora requirement, and steps are being taken.
BUT... As for the rest of the requirements on all the planets, which are causing the Rangers problems?
----
Lok Domesticated meat - Not available on any creature that has even been harvested by any Ranger
Endor Avian Bone - Exists on only one creature... Lantern Birds (post if you know of another source).
What of the other planets?
NRaas you are doing a great job. Let us know how we can be of help to you and devs from this point on. We should all try to work together as team to get the best out of the game and for the game.

Marvelous. ![]()
Do you have insights into my current query?
On the planets you have hunted, did you find the hide / meat / bone required for the camo kits prevalent enough?

The Risk vs Reward is just not there for "gathering" and "crafting" the Camo Kits.
Example:
Endor
- 30 Insect Meat
- 40 Leathery Hide
- 20 Avian Bone
- 20 Deciduous Wood
110 Resources for an average Camo Kit of "maybe" 4-5charges (Can make up to 7-8 with "above avg" materials). These charges last no longer than 10min max (have timed this many times). They break, far to often with usually dire consequences.
Power-Ups for weapons are made with 10 resources for 100 charges. (with +35 Damage or +35% Speed or +15% Mind Cost, etc)
Stim Bs take 16 resources (if I recall right) and can get up to 30+ charges. (Currently have from our medic with avg materials, Crate of 25, with 38 Charges, that heal for 400+ a pop, even with my Novice Medic skill).
While I understand the fact that "deadlier" planet resources come from the "higher level" mobs, it still does not outweigh Risk vs Reward.
The "mobs" you get these resources off of, disease/poison etc, and not many people like to go "fight" something that gives you negative stat effects and causes lots of downtime (detriment to game play). So alot of Rangers are left in the cold. Especially with the 60% rule for groups, not many rangers are able to effectively "solo" CL40+ mobs for their resources.
Not asking for the resources to be taken off said mobs, but the "cost" per kit needs to be significantly lowered to be more in line with Risk/Reward and what other Professions are able to produce.
Personally, I think all the Camo Kits need to have their resources cut in half of the required components.
Anyways, hope this isn't off topic of what your asking ![]()
I'll repeat myself. I find that anything less than animal bones, leathery hide and and herbivore/canivore meat to be uncommon requiring you to go out of your way to find it.
Avians are uncommon yet 6/10 use avian bones. A switch so that all kits used animal bones would be very a good step.
Insect meat is uncommon on Corellia. Only butterflies drop that. A switch to herbivore or carnivore might help (I cant for the life of my remember exactly which drop carnivore). Herbivore is common though I hesitate to suggest that since herbivore is in high demand. I don't feel Ranger's should have to make a choice between making money and making camo kits.
Scaley hide on Dantooine is only available from Pickets.
Wooly hide on Tatooine is uncommon. I also found reptile meat on Tatooine more rare than I expected from a planet with many lizards - many of the lizards didnt have reptile meat.
I'll go out on a limb here and state: if every kit from every planet was leathery hide, animal bone and 1 fauna resource I would be happy. There are alot of different kinds of meat making getting 1 type of meat hard. Further, removing the meat requirement makes the kits far easier to throw together.I am almost 100% certain that given the fauna resource from a bazaar or bought from an artisan that within 5-10 minutes of being on a planet I could have kits together.
"Anyways, hope this isn't off topic of what your asking"
It was. ![]()
Apparently, by the sounds of it, we are going to have to wait until after the next publish to get this resolved, as many of the Rangers can't get over the other problems regarding camo kits.
I was hoping to get the resource changes in along with the next publish, but apparently that is not going to be. ![]()
I'm with novamarine but I'll add again that Tatooine wooly is only available from banthas.
I think the reason you're getting so few answers is because few rangers even bother with the camo kits. I certainly don't or I'd be in a much better position to respond for each planet.
Dantooine isn't a big problem for me as the hide and meat requirement are both available from Pikets which are pretty easy though they are social.
"Scaley hide on Dantooine is only available from Pickets."
Hmmm... I think part of the problem is that those darn Voritor lizards have no resources at all. ![]()
I, personally, have 10k of Dantooine Scaley hide from killing Pickets. The creatures are reasonably abundant, and are easy enough to kill with sufficient combat skill.
"Wooly hide on Tatooine is uncommon."
Wooly hide is easy enough to come by... Banthas are not that difficult to locate, and ifa Rangercan't kill them themselves, they could purchase the goods from those who can.
I have found Banthas to come in multiple varieties and appear to spawn reasonably frequently.
----
As someone else noted... The problem Rangers might be seeing is that the spawn rate is currently suppressed.
Based on the other critter spawn rates, do the ones with the required resources spawn frequently enough?
"I think the reason you're getting so few answers is because few rangers even bother with the camo kits."
Well you don't have to have to made a camoflauge kit to know whether the resources exist in abundance.
I know that most Rangers only harvest Hides and Meat (I happen to fall into this category myself
)
But we are Rangers... The few, the proud, the informed. ![]()
Show methat collectiveRanger knowledge, and give me some statistics on organic resources for the planets.
Consider it a quest... Yes... A Quest for Knowledge. ![]()
Let me think about this a bit. On many of the planets, I've hunted quite extensively. Maybe not Talus so much, and I haven't been to Rori in .... ages. Planets like Yavin don't have many NPCs (that I know of) so I don't even see the need for a camo kit. Endor of course has the ewoks and marauders,Tatooine has the Tuskens and some other nasty NPCs, and Lokhas the pirates and Nyms so making those camo kits would naturally seem to be more important and those are the three that you got answers on - coincidence?
Naturally other planets like Dathomir and Dantooine also have their share of mean old NPCs and as far as I know it is the flora that is the main problem (and one of them conflicts with the needs of the doctors - Dant berry) but you only asked about hide/meat/bone. Naboo and Corellia seem fairly easy to get the resources.
It would be very nice if these resources, especially the flora, weren't also used by other professions for their high level devices, potentiallypricing us out of the market. OK I mean nicer as I still don't like the requirements so this change would only change myattitude to greatly annoyed. ![]()
"coincidence?"
Yes... Your observations do seem to suggest some common thread. ![]()
"Naboo and Corellia seem fairly easy to get the resources."
That is my impression as well.
I presume Tatooine was not listed because of the Wooly Hide requirement...
"It would be very nice if these resources, especially the flora, weren't also used by other professions for their high level devices, potentiallypricing us out of the market."
I agree... Whoever suggested using Dantooine Berry Fruit as a camo kit resource should be shot. ![]()
"Wooly hide is used in composite armor. Armor smiths pay top credit for the decent stuff. It's not the same for any other hide in my experience."
Alrighty then... I'm convinced.
Consider Tantooine Wooly Hideadded to my list. ![]()
----
That brings the tally up to:
Lok Domesticated Meat - Has yet to be located by anyone
Endor Avian Bone - Occurs on only one creature, the Lantern Bird, which is quick difficult to kill
Tantooine Wooly Hide - Used by Tailors and Armorsmiths, making the cost of the kit too expensive
----
Corellia and Naboo seem set the way they are, though Corellian Insect Meat sounds like it may only drop off one critter, though I know the Butterflies are quite prevalent, they don't provide much meat per creature.
I am hearing conflicting reports about Endor Insect Meat. I'd like to hear more about this one. ![]()
What about Talus, Yavin, Rori, Dathomir, and the others?
Or is it as sbjnyc suggested? No one really cares about the camo kits on those planets?
The problem with Wooly hide on Tatooine is that ALL banthas (feral, normal, bull, matriarch, dwarf, dune) use the EXACT same resource, at any time. There was a long while there, where all banthas were dropping 57 OQ hide on my server. It was awful. I could only get 4 uses out of a kit. The crafters didn't notice because Tailor no longer experiments, and armoursmiths can just get wooly from another planet.
I think they should make the different banthas drop at least two or three different kinds of hide. They are, after all, different species.
Also, repitilian meat on Tatooine is a joke. Sevorrts drop it, but not rills, scyks, dune lizards or dragonets? Excuse me?
Avian bone on Endor is not that hard to get...lantern birds are pretty darn easy to kill, and hang out around the Research outpost. But they have the same problem with there being only one kind of resource over multiple species (normal, aged, shimmering).
Insect meat on Endor can be harvested from arachnes or mites. Bloodseeker mites are the best, IMO, if you've got a pet of some sort. Queens are weaker than normal. Otherwise, they have really good BH/Commando resists AND light armour. Bark mites are pretty lethal...and while some arachnes are cake, the tendency of them to have hatchlings hanging out with webmasters makes them pretty undesirable.
I agree with nova about Datooine's pickets. Yeah, they can be easy to kill, but we need to be able to getscaley from other creatures. They also run the resource quality problem.
I really don't have a problem with most camo kit resources...the only thing is, I need to set up harvesters for a couple of days before I can fully explore a planet.
And Lok does drop domesticated meat, but makes you KOS in Nym's Stronghold...because you're killing their animals!
