Thread: Availability of Camo Kit Resources

Corellia and Naboo seem set the way they are, though Corellian Insect Meat sounds like it may only drop off one critter, though I know the Butterflies are quite prevalent, they don't provide much meat per creature.

Dalyrakes can also be found on Corellia but only in out of the way areas from what I have seen. Giants and matriarchs give a large amount of resources. I am not sure about harvesters but it will likely be good amounts.

What about Talus, Yavin, Rori, Dathomir, and the others?

Talus - I had no problems with Talus. The hide component is easy to come by from dalyrakes or the plethora of beetles near Nashal.

Rori - I am not familiar with Rori at all but was able to find enough materials fairly quickly (beyond the flora component) for a few kits.

Dathomir - I do not have Master Ranger so I have not tried to get the resources. Looking at the list I don't recall being worried about finding anyting.

Yavin - I have not tried it yet. I do not anticipate problems, but I have only spent a few hours there and I was focusing on finding pets at the time.

I am hearing conflicting reports about Endor Insect Meat. I'd like to hear more about this one.

I think you should try this one out yourself, see what you think and then let us know...

I'm a Ranger as well (2,2,1,2) and don't want to see these resources come easily...

The reason is, If they DO come easily then everyone will have Camo-Kits...

I currently have people asking me to Guide them on hunts & search for Animals for them to /tame, In this deal I ALLWAYS include the stipulation of payment that on the given planet I GET ALL of the Hard Resources needed as we travel so I will be able to Camo more people.

Again if Every Ranger can get these as easily as just running outside town & killing Light Blue Con's it sure seems to defeat the purpose of being an Elite player!

I vote to keep it just as it is, But do agree that if a resource has YET to be available that somone needs to investigate!!

I believe he is refering to the domesticated dog lik creature, that have "Nym" in their name. Can't remember the exact name. Unfortunately they do not drop domesticated meat.

On Corellia, Dalyrakes are rare but they also drop insect meat. I know where they usually spawn so it's not a problem for me really. It might be for a non-local, however. I mostly just run around a city and shoot a lot of butterflies up to get a usable stack (still have not used all of mine from a run I did 2 weeks ago). It seems Drones and Regulars like the city lights and are easy kills. You can get a worker in the mix, watch it cause they assist but are not a big problem.

Ohhh.... Well there's a different opinion. I like that.

QwiqShot is suggesting we leave all the resources as is (except perhaps the Domesticated meat one).

Anyone want to say something regards this? Wait... Do I even have to ask?

I must respectfully disagree, Qwiq. One of the major design goals of this game is that it is accessable to more casual players. Were I to only have a few hours a week to play, it could conceivably take multiple weeks to gather enough resources to make just a few kits, which might last one session (even with the small play time).

Were it one skill it might be tolerable, but this is an entire quarter of the Ranger's abilities. It does not have to be handed to us, but no other profession has such stringent requirements on making an item, especially a disposable one with extremely limited charges.

Maybe the proposed changes (orange in N'Raas' State of the Profession) will make it less of an issue, but as things currently stand I cannot agree with a position that turns this skill into something only the most hard-core and dedicated players will use.

I take that to heart... Because that is what I've been doing.

With the current requirements, I have yet to make one single camo kit. Of course I have other priorities (building up my character on TC for instance).

If I put all my focus on creating a camo kit, I could do it in one day... But then they would used up in no time, and I would need to start the whole process over again.

NerfBurger: You talking about the:

Nym Domesticated Gurk

Thats a Level 25 creature that has Hams of 2250-3750, Damage it does is 131.25-137.5 has a 55% chance of hitting & gives 2996 Exp.

Yes thats the one. I believe it drops Herbivore meat; I do know it does not drop Domesticated.

I would vote on leaving the resources as is (exception of the LoK meat) if :

Conceal lasted 30 minutes fixed duration

Conceal rarely broke 1% or less at Master Ranger

If it could be applied to self with no kit, would even accept increased break chance without kit on self.

I made a bunch of Endor kits and went out with a group of7we were out there for 2 hours or so. I kept conceal on everyone and reapplied when it dropped. I ended up using over 150 charges. At that time with the resources available and experminting the best I could get was 5 charges per kit. Thats30 kits that I used. Now multyply thatby number of resources and you can see that it's not worth it. It took me days to get all those resources and I had 2 micro harvester running(which was a pain since i have no artisan skill, had to pay someone to survey). It would break quite often, would agro mobs from off the radar screen.

I went back the next night hunting on Endor and did not apply conceal to party members and it worked better. It was easier to dodge around mobs/lairs then it was to risk conceal.

This is conceal applied from a Bothan Master Ranger +115 to camofluage. The only time I use it is if we need to get past some NPC's and there is no other way around it.

Seriuu: I should have also said something about the Qualities too...

Yeah I would have to admit that the AMOUNT thats CURRENTLY produced per unitDoes Suck Bad!!

Maybe do this,Lower the quality of the available units that are NOT DIFFICULT to get Vs. Newly introduced ones that areDifficult to obtaintherby giving both arguments a standing change...

Example:

Low Quality ones would be Easily obtained & harvested But have Lower Qualities (Your average players range of play)

High Quality ones remain Difficult to obtain & harvetsted But have Higher Qualities (Still needs looked into since they have a few that have been elusive)

This would solve the problem!

My opinion of the camouflage kits is that they require far too many resources, for far too few charges, that last far too short a time, as long as they arenot immediately broken by pests. I do not even bother using them as they are now.

Even if the kits worked 100% of what the were claimed to be, I would still consider the resource requirements prohibitive.

Besides making some of the resources more available on select planets, I would suggest that the resource costs be cut in half, at the very least. The requirement vs. reward is unbalanced.

As for availability: The creature resources for the Tatooine kits are available on enough creatures. It is only incovientient that they require wooly hides.

  • Tatooine Camouflage Kit:

    • Wooly Hide: Banthas (all variety)

    • Animal Bone: All

    • Reptilian Meat: Worrts, Sevorrts, Cu pa, Bocatt

In my opinion the Reptilian meat was a good idea, as there are is a large level range of creatures that yield reptile meat. You can hunt low level worrts for small amounts of meat, or you can hunt bocatt for large amounts of meat.

I think that should have been a precedence set for all of the resources requirments on all of the planets.
