Thread: Remember Mounts...?

It’s just occurred to me that I don’t think I have seen a single player on a mount in ages. Have the vehicles completely killed the mounts? Seems like a lot of work on the modellers and the Devs part to have them disappear in a puff of exhaust fumes some two weeks later.

Indeed I had more or less forgotten that I have one, might take him for a spin tonight, for old times sake.

Not mine. I use my lesser Dewback to ride out to missions or anything that's relatively close. Saves wear and tear on my speeder. I know people who do the same.

I personally feel that maskscent shouldn't work with vehicles, if I'm riding a jet turbine, the creature doesn't need to smell me to know I'm there, it can hear me long before I arrive.

I think that mounts shouldn't have this problem, a maskscented person riding a mount shouldn't draw any more attention than that creature would otherwise recieve.

That seems reasonable....

I still use my mount for trips 1000m or less,,, and my swoop for longer distances.

Unless my point of the trip is for exploration purposes, then I solely use my mount. You miss the point of exploring on a vehicle.

Yea, for running missions that are 1k away, it's actually too much hassle to use a vehicle if you have pets/droids. What really comes in handy is if you have a mount that is a "combat pet". Hop on its back, ride to the the lair, then attack the lair. Of course when they change it so that you can pull pets and droids out without camping next release I'll probably juse use the vehicle for everything then.

Even if maskscent didn't work on vehicles, what's the point? You're in the next zip code before something thinks about attacking you.

Aah, but what about when you want to stop and get off, the sheer presence of a speeder should prohibit mask scent IMO....

I use my mount when my speeder gets whacked beyond use in battle... but aside from that I don't.. I don't get a feel of going fast when I'm on my mount... that's the problem I have with it.

Clearly no-one here's been forced to kneeling with the first hit when you're speeding past an aggro mob

I am most often seen sitting on Simba, a Humbaba I tamed and trained. On hunts, I use the mount. End of the hunt going back only to log out: vehicle. I prefer to use Simba because there are times I shoot up natural lairs on the way out and back. Lately, I will hit large organics droppers even for grinders, tho I don't make it my focus. Natural lairs yield double of a mission lair, so I try not to pass them up. I make my money selling the organics. Compared to the mission payout, I could even go without the mission. In fact, I have done that before -taking explorer missions instead. Only reason to have them for meis to generate the critter with the stuff you are looking for.

Yea, I agree... rangers are too powerful and need to be nerfed, rofl.

Actually it's more of a vehicle nerf than a ranger nerf, especially since you can't apply masked scent to other players.

Maskscent should work with mounts, but not with vehicles.
